13, 14 years ago, I was working a movie premiere at the Manns Chinese Theater. As the show let out , all the stars come out wave to the crowd & duck into their limos & drive off. Magic walks out of the theater , walks directly over to the security rails, signs autographs & takes pictures with all of the people that waited for everyone to come out. He did that for 15-20 minutes easy. Its the little things that go a long way.

He announced in 1991 that he contracted HIV from unprotected (heterosexual) sex. His virus level is virtually undetectable as he is on the HAART regimen; only AZT (zidovudine) was available when he was 1st diagnosed - the triple therapy regimen was approved 5-years later. He is not "cured" and remains on treatment.

Probably the most charming and magnetic billionaire ever... My father was a Bird and Celtics fan from the 80's. The first NBA game I've ever watched was a Celtics game. He used to have our relatives send recorded Celtics games in VHS from the US to our country. I've grown to appreciate Magic because of his rivalry and friendship with Bird. Magic is probably one of the most charismatic African-American celebrities in my generation.
