I don't do legends anymore but I'd love to have this. I love partsforming when it comes to super modes and combiners. I think the shoulder pylon parts are designed that way so you can place an Autobot logo on the right one.

I read all the comments to see if this had been mentioned, but in vehicle mode, there's a couple little divots in the side of the shins about halfway up. That makes a tiny, subtle gap that the trailer can hitch to. Their Prime uses the same divot for its trailer.

I have the 1.0 and it's pretty decent. But that doesn't stop me from replacing it with the New Age soon. Also also the shoulder is flat on the right side for the Autobot logo.

in fact I do prefer the 1.0 MS over both this and the New Age one, cause it has more sleek proportion, it's not as blockey and bulky...sure it miss the "white prime core" gimmick, but why would i care about something we never seen in the cartoon? The only real downside of it is that it does not scale at all in alt mode, not even in the MFT oversized version

Foot wheels can rotate up so he stands flat on his feet, the shoulder piece is molded o one side to allow an automotive symbol. The elbow has better range if you rotate the forearm piece so piston is on inside edge. It has a cutout for that elbow.

I believe the silver part on the lower arm armor goes on the inside because I see a bit of a cutout to get more elbow movement and to make the angles look right at the wrist. It's nice they're using better plastic now and hopefully on more figures but this armor really ain't for me.

That fact it can pull off an A-stance, when the G1 toy could only pull off an H-stance, is an accomplishment. Don't think I have a need for it since I've gotten multiple legends & legends+ versions of the armored magnus and a couple versions of the legends scaled white magnus/prime. Might look up other reviews for size comparisons. Watching this did remind me of the GBP armor for macross VF-1 valkyries/veritechs/jetfires... and that's not a bad thing.

I bought this set, not because I have the right Prime figure (I have their Ghost Buster’s version), but to get the armor painted with Danny Phantom colors. Also, MS’s Motormaster CAN tow the trailer/armor very well. Now, that, would be a cool combination or Motormaster being able to wear the Magnus armor. My biggest complaint is there isn’t a place (like in the ankles) for the primary figure’s fists, or (such as in a backpack) the head and smokestacks. It would’ve been a nice and appreciated touch. This is also why I like the all-in-one Transforming Ultra Magnus figures, where there is little to no parts forming.

I think his gloves are on wrong, you're getting collision at the elbow bend... the silver bit may go on the inside, outside, or underside of the forearm to free up that joint more. I think his boot wheels also flip around to make a flat sole. Either way... much as I love Magic Square I think I'll go with the NewAge Magnus.

I agree with your critics and in my opinion MS should have built this armor for their new Prime mold so they could improve on the articulation and the functionality. New Age won this one easy, since they had never released an Optimus Prime they design the Prime mold taking the Ultra Magnus armor into consideration. The only problem with that decision is even though NA Ultra Magnus is better it may have affected their Prime and since MS is releasing a v2 Prime, from what I've seen so far, MS may win the Prime wars. You win some you lose some, NA won the Ultra Maguns wars but MS may win the Prime wars and since Prime is the main character I don't think risking their Prime mold to win the Ultra Magnus wars was a good strategy for NA. Another thing NA did better then MS regarding Ultra Magnus was they released the armor and the white Prime in the same pack. Even though you can use the MS armor with any MS Prime, the right one is the white one and since the MS one was released ages ago it is now a bit hard to find. Unless MS rereleases that white Prime or this armor works with the new Prime mold (maybe that strange peg in the trailer is for the new mold... this is more wishful thinking then insight) and they release a white one using that new mold they may lose some Ultra Magnus sales. Why is the trailer so grey? I feel like all of those light grey panels on the trailer should be bright white since they're going for toy-accuracy. I hate the transformation though, even at this size it feels like they could have gotten at least 80% of the transformation to work without taking the trailer apart and reassembling it like LEGO. It looks good in armored mode but getting there sucks. This is very clearly a case of having the white Prime repaint and then much later figuring out how to add a trailer and armor.

the shoulders are the way they are because that's the way they were in the cartoon. the right shoulder is flat because that's where the autobot logo sat on his arm.

It is a fair and honest review, and b/c he does not have a horse in the race, it comes across as genuine........ I am also impressed with his review on Robot Paradise..... Bobby? Are you turning over a new leaf? For my nickels worth, I am still more than likely to get this, mostly b/c he, along with the rest, will end up being mostly a Static Display, the fidgety, fuddley bits just DO NOT make it an appeasing purchase.

It's a decent figure, but definitely not without its flaws. My copy became extremely loose on the upper body after a whole 1 transformation (arms floppy, elbows floppy and waist floppy). Legends in general seem to have this problem (moreso on this one). This figure with the Magnus armor is $100 USD and the company can't find a way to ensure the joints hold up over time. I mean, even large MP's have this issue, but, from my experience, Legends figures seem to degrade so much quicker (whether it's Magic Square, Newage or Iron Factory). Like the elbows on my copy of this figure are so weak that he can't even hold up his gun. If these figures are going to get this expensive, the company's could at least try to engineer sturdier joints.

Definitely disappointing. He looks incredible! But the Articulation in the legs is just so unfortunate. Especially now when these legends have become so known for there action figure like Articulation.

Good thing I’m not a completionist. This character holds no significance with me, as he was a chump in the movie. Plus, all of the representations either stray too far from what he looked like, or are this weird Lego /build -a-figure thing going on. Not my ball of wax.

Even if I were monetarily enabled, this would be a big pass. I don't enjoy model building nearly as much as I enjoy robot conversions, and this is basically a model kit/add-on. The figure looks nice in either mode, but I couldn't be bothered to change between the two. For that aesthetic I'd rather just have a non-converting model. It would certainly be more articulated, and wouldn't fall apart when touched.
