the game when you were at 2 life and the opponent was at 9 and you drew ardent plea then conceded... you said emrakul wouldn't do it because they still had lethal permanents... that simply wasn't true. sure your opponent would be able to kill you on the crack back, but you had emrakul, an extra turn, and 15 damage in the air when they were at 9 life. you had them dead

I missed it at first because i didn't know that you can counter your own spells. Then i read a comment that you could counter your own shock or opt with it to get something bigger from it. I'm not suprised that there is a combo like this with that card. Though it should be fine in standard i think, maybe some fun janky combos.

@@modernminded5466 he got turn 1 Emrakul 3 games in a row. "It loses to 1 counter spell" doesn't really work when it forces your opponent to run counter spells and it only needs 3 Mana to cast 1 of 20 cards that start the combo...

@@YayapLives That's pretty lucky though. He might as well have gotten a turn 1 Simian Spirit Guide or a Chancellor. Or quite likely a less impactful fatty. Pair with the fact that this deck can barely have a functional sideboard, and it exists in a Force of Negation format. I ain't buying it. The big upside this deck has it that it doesn't have many hard counters like Pithing Needle or RIP... But if you get over the early combo, T3feri is an instant win. This is probably really good against the Black based decks, though.

Reddit was discussing a different variation on this deck involving your choice of Mistcutter Hydra or Savage Summoning. Both can be cast for 1 and are uncounterable, meaning if you flip another Trickery, it is still available to counter. Then add in Boseju to make your Trickery uncounterable. Finished off with some Zoetic Cavern as an emergency card to be able to cast for its morph cost to counter with Trickery. There was also talk about adding some cycling lands to dig if needed but idk that just seems slow since all of them etb tapped if you need them as actual lands.

I kind of think Newlamog is a better way to go because if you combo off, you're guaranteed the value of choosing the two most threatening permanents instead of waiting a turn for the attack. This would help to insulate against path to exile if the circumstance comes up.

It's called cockatrice Not the prettiest thing, but definitely very functional, and you can easily play online with new cards or even custom magic if you're into that There are also mods to make it look not like a 1998 computer program

As for this particular deck, it seems like any countermagic keeps the whole thing in check. Also, if emrakul is not the one drawn, then a lot of 1 mana removal just undoes the whole work. But I might be wrong! We will see

I feel like this deck could be improved by removing some of the dead things you can cascade into. Sure Tibalt's is dead regardless of what you do, but I don't think the speed you can get from chancellor of the annex is worth him being a dead flip. At least Spires is mega thallia with flying and can buy you a bit of time to try again. I would consider adding Brilliant Ultimatum or maybe Emergent Ultimatum as possible other game-ending casts.

You cascade into tibalt. Then if you reveal another cascader, tibalt is in the graveyard. If you play 4, then you risk to tibalt into tibalt, and find no target. So fizzle. And then you fizzle everytime you hit simian or chancellor. So it's a turn 3 play, that SOMETIMES wins. If opponent doesn't have FoN. So.. charbelcher is much better guys.

Perhaps so! A couple things working for Tibalt's Trickery is that 1) if an eldrazi is milled, the graveyard is shuffled back into our deck, 2) violent outburst can be played on our opponent's upkeep to circumvent FoN, and 3) Tibalt's Trickery should get around grafdigger's cage. I'm not sure if the speedy payoff of this deck is worth the risk, but I figure if wotc banned hypergenesis, this has to be at least better than that! 🤗

If you Trickery with Trickery on the stack, you just target the first trickery so you can resolve the original Cascade spell.

You could try Boseiju, Who Shelters All to make the cascade spell uncounterable and then if you revel a trickery it will not be a fail, you can cast the trickery again targeting the cascade spell

They should have just made the card: "Tibalt's less tricky trickery {1}{R} Counter target spell controlled by an opponent. That player reveals cards from the top of their library until they reveal a nonland card with a different name than that spell. They may cast it without paying its mana cost." Much cleaner, and can only be used as the thing it was designed to be: A chaos-flavored counterspell in red.
