The opening scene at the rail station is a parody of the movie "The Untouchables", great gangster movie with Al Capone and Elliott Ness. Ness also tries to bring a baby up the stairs. OJ doing his football dance and nearly spiking the baby (like a football), really made me laugh back then. These Leslie Nielsen movies were classic, cool to see others get a laugh out of them
@neil2444

That joke with OJ spiking the baby wouldn't be funny unless you knew he used to play football. So it is kind of a meta joke. Yeah, one of the better jokes. 😂

In the 80s, David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker did Airplane!, Top Secret! and The Naked Gun. In the early 90s, while Zucker & Proft did the Naked Gun sequels, Abrahams & Proft did Hot Shots! (Top Gun spoof - with nods to Dances With Wolves, 9 1/2 Weeks, Superman, Rocky, Gone With The Wind) and Hot Shots! Part Deux (Rambo 2-3 spoof - with nods to Basic Instinct, Star Wars, No Way Out, Terminator 2, The Guns of Navarone, The Wizard of Oz). In 1996, Zucker & Proft did High School High, which spoofed urban social dramas. In 1998, Jim Abrahams did Mafia! - a spoof on The Godfather, Casino and Goodfellas - while Pat Proft did Wrongfully Accused, which spoofed The Fugitive - with nods to Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger (both with Ford as CIA's agent Jack Ryan), Mission: Impossible, The Usual Suspects and Titanic. That same year, David Zucker did BASEketball. Although it is not a spoof, it is a comedy in the same vein starring the creators of South Park. Other filmmakers tried to replicate that brand of humor in their own projects with more or less success. Airplane 2! (1982), I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988), Repossessed (1990) , Loaded Weapon (1993), Fatal Instinct (1993), Silence of the Hams (1994), Don't Be A Menace To South Central (1996), Spy Hard (1996). From the mid-90s, the market was saturated and those comedies were considered box-office poison until the surprising success of the R-rated slasher spoof Scary Movie in 2000.

The "You love me, you really love me!" line was actually said by Sally Field when she won her Oscar for "Not Without My Daughter", and even Jim Carrey did a joke/parody of that in The Mask. Well you still have "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls", the sequel to the 1st Ace Ventura movie (which was the only sequel Jim Carrey had made at the time before years later doing Dumb and Dumber 2, which you also have) and there's also "Top Secret!", a parody with Val Kilmer, "Hot Shots!", a parody of Top Gun with Charlie Sheen, and the sequel "Hot Shots! 2" (or Part Deux), which parodies Rambo 2 and 3. Speaking of Rambo, would love to see your reaction of "First Blood" (the 1st Rambo movie).

I always die of laughter on the Pia Zadora scene! XD The hot blonde is Anna Nicole Smith, who was a playboy model, then she married a really, really old but a whealthy millionaire or billionaire and of course there where jokes about their marriage and many believed she only married him for the money even though she herself said she didn't (depends on what you wanna believe in) and then the old man died. She had a reality show in the early 2000's where she had become more plump (but she later got her normal weight again) and she was always high all the time, and that made her look like a bigger joke. She died in 2007 of accidental overdose and sadly her teenage son died like one or two years later after her death, also by overdose.

With a career spanning 60 years, he appeared in more than 100 films and 150 television programs, portraying more than 220 characters. There is much more about him on wikipedia. Oh man, these movies are a trip. Airplane! and Spy Hard are some more of full-on Leslie Nielsen funniness, though more than those I'd actually recommend the Police Academy series. Those have the same kind of humor, although they're maybe halfway (okay, maybe one-quarter-way) more serious than the Naked Guns, but they're another classic comedy institution in their own right, as it's an ensemble cast movie series where everyone has their own quirks.

Loved watching your reaction to this movie. Your enthusiasm is infectious and It was like watching it again for the first time. Can I recommend a brilliant comedy from the 80s called A Fish Called Wanda. It won a few Oscars and is hilarious. Keep up the great work

This is a pretty reference heavy one. Lots of movies, lots of references to what was happening on the news at the time . The intro BTW comes from battleship potemkin a scene referenced in many other movies . If you can read Russian battleship potemkin would be worth a look for its historic importance. plastic on the furniture was used to keep dust and stains off people did that back then
