A pretty good family comedy for Halloween.🍬🍭 With amazingly colorful witches: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. What a pity that I didn't come across this wonderful film in childhood, because then it would have been my absolute favorite film.🤗 The plot is funny, entertaining, there is no drama or violence, well, or almost none, it is more of a parody of the film 📖"Warlock"📖, with Julian Sands, in which everything is much more serious! Not bad scenery and location shooting, many supporting and third-plan actors, but do not forget that it is not the witches who play the main role in the film, but the children, so the film resembles a fairy tale. There is a fascinating storyline, but not an action-packed one, let's say this is not "Witching & Bitching". You can safely watch it with your whole family without fear of pitfalls and wet sheets, the ending, as it should be in a good fairy tale, is good :-) Thirty years have passed, and the film still looks good, even despite the 90s setting and special effects of that time. Thank you for your emotions and for the great reaction!🧡🎃🧡

This movie is the legit reason why I love Bette Midler so much. Also, I love Doug Jones as Billy Butcherson. He also played Abe Sapien in Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. And the physical actor who played Thackery Binx, Sean Murray, in this movie currently plays Special Agent Timothy McGee on the original NCIS series.

Disney movie + Halloween theme done right, excellent pick! The early 90's vibes are captured so well in this movie - dialogue, jokes, flirting style, the budding romance between Max and Allison, Dani giving her brother Max a tough time. Thank you for the beautiful reaction, commentary and discussion, you did a great job ❤

Fun fact: the 'Devil' was played by Garry Marshall, known primarily as the Executive Producer of numerous sitcoms throughout the 60s, 70s & 80s, such as 'Happy Days' & 'Laverne & Shirley', which starred actress Penny Marshall, Garry Marshall's sister, who played the Devil's wife in this movie.

Kenny Ortega should have directed many more 80s/90s movies. He has such a flair for the theatrical and got great performances out of the young actors here. Pure fun. He worked his magic, to a lesser extent, with the High School Musical movies, too.

Boris Karloff was an actor in the 1930s-1950s. He is mostly known for playing famous big monsters like Frankenstein and the Mummy. He also had a song he was famous for... The Monster Mash. It was a lot of fun, and actually a graveyard smash! Max, at the party, announces himself as Boris Karloff Jr., but then laughs like Vincent Price, who was famous for monster and horror movies (The Fly, House of Wax, and a ton of other movies...) and made even more famous for his laugh and narration on the Michael Jackson song Thriller! Also, there was an incident at in Strasbourg, Alsace (modern day France) where people danced until they died. It was known as the Dancing Plague of 1518! The Plague claimed about 400 people in total! It is interesting since the witches "learned French... in the meantime" when they were looking for their book. (Were they the cause of the Plague too?)

#MagicMagy there's some speculation that all the Sanderson sisters had different fathers(not sure if its true but hear me out) Winfred had dad, might have been "the town preacher" she's most verse in education and one more likely to have better grades then her sisters. Sarah, mihht have had "beauty" and an amazing singing voice but most of the time, she was very aloof and dumb(he dad might have been rhe village idiot) and for Mary, her talent's were just as scary as Winnie's. Mary could identify any creature by sound, age and even taste(who father could've been a hunter or butcher) ..theres are a few thoughts i wanted to bring out here on this reaction

I knew Magy and Laura would love this movie. As soon as I seen this reaction posted and I knew then: they will love this movie. I tried to watch "Hocus Pocus" once, as everyone were raving about it. It did not take long, I was back to my stereo listening to tunes. So, I kinda got the gist of this movie by watching Magy and Laura reacting to it. I still don't care much for the movie. As often, I just enjoy Magy and Laura, and watching them enjoy life, movies, fun, friendship, etc. I'm here for Magy and Laura. That is the difference. Hello from Kentucky. I have two recommendations, if you have not seen these two movies, you will love them: "The Witches" (1990) with Anjelica Houston. "The Addams Family" (1991) with Anjelica Houston, Raul Julia, and Christopher Lloyd.

The movie found a faithful audience in the children born in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s remained very popular, especially with the women that watched it as children. I’m sure others have mentioned that a sequel was made in 2022 some 30 years after the original.

Man I remember seeing this 31 years ago. This was the hottest movie to see in theaters. It was an opening night that my mom and I had to get tickets. It was a double feature. Snow white and then Hocus Pocus. We had to sit closer to the screen. The theater was so jammed packed.

While Halloween started in Britain, it was especially well-suited to America and grew much bigger there, starting in the second half of the 1800s. The original Jack-o-Lanterns were carved from turnips, but the American pumpkin was much better suited to the role, as it could grow much larger, was softer (and thus easier to carve), and had a natural hollow in the center once the seeds and pulp were removed, giving it the perfect place to place a candle to light up the face and make it more startling. Likewise, the infamous Salem Witch Trials in colonial Massachusetts, which occurred almost a century before the American War of Independence, never caught an actual witch (though it cost the lives of 20 innocent people), but forever associated Massachusetts with witches and was a grim enough event to be the source of some excellent ghost stories.

This movie is beautiful and perfect for halloween, it's a family movie yeah, u did a great choice👍, if you want a real horror movie for halloween obviously there's "Halloween"🤣... The best halloween in my opinion is the remake of 2007 "Halloween the beginning", but I recommend it only if you haven't seen the original one from 1978, cause these two are identical, the only difference is that the remake is more set in the present. I'm telling you this because I see everyone online reacting to the original, but I think the remake is better, more scary😈😆

My favorite part of this film was Sarah singing while on her broom. You may like Burned at The Stake (1981) and The Crucible (1996). Nice reaction. Such an iconic family film overall. Don't watch the sequel, it's horrible. A great classic every Halloween. For Christmas I suggest One Magic Christmas, The Santa Clause 1 and 2, Ernest Saves Christmas, Scrooged, The Snowman (1982), Jack Frost, Jingle All The Way, Babes In Toyland (1961), Black Christmas, A Mom For Christmas.

Hocus Pocus is one of those films that was absolutely bashed by critics, a major flop at the box office and a film that, despite receiving a VHS and barebones DVD release, was largely forgotten by the Walt Disney company for many years. It wasn't until 2018, after years of phone conversations and emails with the higher-ups at Disney, we got the Anniversary Edition which, while lacking, was better than nothing. Now, with the 4K Ultra HD BluRay on the way in a few weeks, I think it's time to look back and revisit the iconic 1993 classic.

it probably would have done better at the box office if they had released in closer to Halloween rather than in July where it had to directly compete against Jurassic Park
