I bought the FR30 ~1year ago and I love them Yes they are very expensive but when it comes to diminishing returns I would say they are very well set with them. I did listen to cheaper and more expensive speakers but I have to say, I really dont need more as what they than deliver to me. I needed speakers to work for stereo music and home cinema and with the size they are at a max, also zero space for subs. Free to listen for interested people, only problem is I live in germany, but anybody from here is very welcome

@@CarlVanDoren61 So What... they are designed in Colorado. Where are Apple iPhones and iPads made and where are they designed? Tons of other established Audio brands have gear made in China. Its all about Quality Control. So far, there have not been any issues with the Aspen speaker line.

Paul of PS Audio has a very popular KZbin channel and offers walk in or scheduled tours in their Colorado HQ. Bet you could do and entire tour and listening with them. Might be very interesting for both.

The FR30 is pretty remarkable speaker within its respective price range. Much better imaging and more musical than Sasha DAW. A great 3D soundstage with exceptional detail. It was a bit overwhelmed with fast transients in lower octave playing Boogie Stop Shuffle from Ah Um album, Mofi ultra disc 45 from master tape. In fairness every ported bass speaker, including ones costing 10x that of FR30 struggle with such an amazing composition of Mingus’ bass, piano chords and the percussion. The big issue with FR30, and entire Aspen series from PSA, is the fit and finish. It’s a very cheap looking plastic, reminiscent of the 90’s lucite era or something I’d see at Ikea. Granted, I demand furniture grade wood finishes from any speaker entering my home, but this was far worse aesthetic than the Sasha DAW. If you are one to look past such an aesthetic deficiency, I’d highly recommend a demo. PSA will ship to your home for a 30-day demo, if you’re near them in CO they will deliver and setup. Awesome company to deal with and based solely on sound, I’ve not heard a single speaker that as good or better for under $40k. Fwiw, it’s also a very easy speaker to drive, my demo I bi-amped w/my Rogue Apollo feeding woofs and Wavac 805’s driving mid & tweets. Also of note is the rear firing tweeter can be defeated or attenuated to allow large range of room placement relative to front wall.

Plastic? All the info I can see says that the cabinet is MDF with paint and 20 coats of piano gloss lacquer, and the baffle a composite material (although unlikely to be relevant given paint and lacquer covering all so the actual material is never visible). Are you saying that they are lying about the material/finish?

M7 for $375k? Well, if one can spend that much on a pair of speakers, why not just go to M9?

Room. Size. Other equipment. But I agree to a large degree. It's an unfortunate circumstance to have to settle for an M7.

Jay, in order to give PS Audio Speakers a Truly fair Evaluation would be to Hook them up to Ultra HiEnd Equipment like yours!

Small companies have to charge more because they have less buying power/research money than the big diversified companies. Hence Yamaha's NS-5000 for $15K with all drivers of the same material. None of these can do that at any price.

I heard the FR20 at the Toronto show last week. It was a reasonably good room acoustically. They were paired with Accuphase electronics and a Directstream DAC. Sound was very good but not remarkable. I'd say pretty good value for the money. They were playing flat down to 30Hz in room. They image well. They seemed pleasant on many types of music and I expect that many people will find them a good long term speaker. I did not hear space and that palpable gut appeal that I like. But it was a show with a high noise floor. I went next door and was captivated by Gershwin Black Swans which cost 4x the FR20.

Magico M7 competing against XVX and Focal's Grande Utopia in price is a risky bold move by Magico. Having heard the M6 at three separate shows, as well as the Grande Utopia twice ( never had the joyous blessing of listening to XVX or M9), I would say its a tall order for the M7.

You have a very full and busy life, but you make time to produce and release new content. I agree that the Magico M7 must be much more than an M6 on steroids, and $300,000+ is a very tough neighborhood to survive in. Darryl Wilson isn't sitting at the beach enjoying Margaritas, and an updated XVX Chronosonic may be introduced soon. Thanks for the deep intel !

Paul is awesome at PSA Audio. Love his videos. The speaker design is not my favorite and I think it's pretty ugly but too each their own. Little known secret when you go to dealers if you are trying out really high end equipment sometimes they will let you try it out for a few weeks in your room to see how you like it. This is when you are dropping high 5 to 6 figures at a time. Not buying a pair of 2,000 speakers. The small mark up they make on those is volume sales so they do not have time to go the distance for customers in that range. The dealers know if they want to sell to me I have to try it out in my space or they can forget it.

You've owned every Magico? Either you have not liked what either of them can provide, or you just want to compare IT on a table.

I appreciate what you trying to do but what makes your ears better than mine. People gravitate to a sound that suits them. You may not like it, I might not like it but if they do that's all that matters. If people want to spend huge amounts of money for there hifi, then they will seek out a sound that they want, not yours or anyone else's. At this level ,due diligence is the order of the day. This is where a respected dealer is worth his salt, to find a system that suits his client needs. There are far too many people pitching in there preferences to this amp or speaker, bestowing its merits because you like it. The moral of the story an any level of budget is....one man's hifi is not another's.
