A lot of you are curious about food processors, judging by how many watched my first run through with my MagiMix 4200XL! Exactly 2 months after I first tried it for you guys, I am giving you an update on how it has performed, and what I use it for the most.
I bought mine directly from the Magimix UK website. I was not associated with Magimix when making this video, however they have since provided the below affiliate link, where I get commission if you buy through it. You also get a 10% discount with the promo code SCRATCH24.

Hello. My Magimix food processor is 25 years old and still works brilliantly . About 5 years After buying it I wanted other discs to grate and slice thicker and I thought long and hard and decided to buy another big bowl just in case .....the bowl stayed in a cupboard for 15 years ....until the original one broke . After throwing away the old one I checked on Internet and found that you couldn't find the replacement any longer . So you might be wise and buy another bowl within the next 5 years since that's about the only piece that can break . It would be such a shame to throw the food processor away because you can't find the bowl .

I know this is an older video now, but I’m sure this is still the one most watched by people looking at Magimix food processors. To give my feedback, like others, our Magimix is 30 years old and going strong. However, the bowl has cracked and is no longer available. Nonetheless, great advertisement for Magimix longevity. As we hope to have our replacement last 30 years we’re looking at the 5200xl. For reference the dimensions are identical to the 4200xl but 20mm higher. It has a more powerful motor and slightly higher capacity.

We just bought the 4200xl after watching your video and also the one that Pick Up Limes published on kitchen essentials :) The two of you totally convinced us - so far, we've only made hummus with it and it turned out soooo beautifully! Can't wait to try out so many more recipes. I especially bought it because my plan is to master raw vegan (cup)cakes and my old food processor didn't do a good job with all the nuts and dates. Love from Germany!

Hi Liv, thank you for your entertaining and learning video's. especially the one one bread (dough), was very helpful for me (did not know how to use the big bowl except making big batches of bumbu for 5 persons+..). Respect for your non profit comments regarding MaxiMix, but just your own, honest and most of all, practical experiences. In my being as a 'hobby cook', I'm most into Indonesian and Italian kitchen. Oh ja, I have a 3200 mass basher for about a year now, also convinced after watching your vid's.. The reason to react, except for thanking you, is to mention for viewers that the small bowl is perfect for making stronger mixes; bumbu, pesto etc. Agree, not as good as in a cobek, but an onion, some chilli, garlic, trassi, coriander, cumin and some salt, makes a base for your Indo cooking. Pine nut, basil, garlic, olive oil, salt and parmesan, will finally come to a good pesto for your pasta our sauce. Carry on in what you're doing. I will follow. Hugs, JC. Friesland, Netherlands.

I can beat B.Simpson. I bought possibly the first Magimix in the early 70's and used it probably twice weekly until recently. The motor is still going, the lid lost a piece and I had to hold it down when using and the larger grater shaft broke. A couple of years ago I got in touch with Magimix to see if the lid or grater could be replaced, wishful thinking I know, but I'm an 85 year old and did not want to spend the money on a new machine. However Alison at Magimix couldn't fix the lid but sent what she could find including a grater, Yay, free of charge from Sydney to Perth. Last Christmas my family found a second hand Magimix 4200LG for me. Unfortunately it had a few cracks in the bottom of the large bowl which I managed to fix with Sugru but as I'm not sure how long that will last I inquired about the cost of a new bowl. Spoke to Alison and she found a secondhand one which is also coming to me next week free of charge. How is that for service? My reason for buying the original one was I had four teenagers who loved pies and burgers and I hate fat so I would buy, usually round steak lighty freeze and cut off as much fat as possible, chop up a bit then mince with the chopping blade. Pastry made easily in machine, short bread, carrot cake, soup so much easier with Magimix. Original one MOTOR STILL GOING. Worth every penny and great service

hello, Greetings from Honduras, I have a question: My wife and I want to start a business selling organic and homemade peanut butter and other nuts and mixes. Do you think that the Magimix 4200XL can help us process 5-10 pounds (15-30 cups) of peanuts a day, 2 or 3 times a week?
@TheFromScratchBody
@TheFromScratchBody 9 ай бұрын
What an amazing comment!! Thank you for watching from Honduras and how awesome that you want to do this! I think you can do that amount in it, yes. I normally do a small batch for my family, which is about 3, maybe 4 cups. That’s not close to filling the large bowl (note that I now use the Cook Expert and the processor part of that is slightly bigger, but I did do this with my 4200xl too). I must disclaim I haven’t used it this much/regularly myself, but my guess is you would be fine to do that. I’m curious to pose this question to the Magimix team and see what they say! All the best with your business! ♥️💪🏼

Hi, I have now upgraded to the Cook Expert, and the fp part of that is like a 5200xl ;also I use the metal bowl for bread as it has the space and function for it to rise as well!). But I do believe that when I had this I did 1000g of flour in it and let it rise in a bowl!

Hi, thank you for the video. I have the 4200 model (not 4200xl) and wonder if you can tell me if i purchase the 4200xl lid and 4200 xl pusher if that will fit my 4200 processor. I find the bigger chute on 4200xl much more practical as it allows to process the food without pre-cutting into smaller chunks (like i have to do with 4200 which has small chute) other than than my 4200 is great so do not want to go and buy 4200xl, But if the lid and pusher from 4200xl fit my 4200 i would be happy to buy the 2 accessories.

Hi! Thank you so much for your reviews! I'm thinking of buying one of this. I make a lot of almond butter. How much grams do you think it can handle at once? I'm used to make it on a thermomix but it is from my sister, and now I need a food processor for myself and it's a hard choice because the thermomix makes a wonderful job with nuts, but it is so expensive. Thank you :)

Hi Filipa, lovely to meet a fellow nut butter-lover and thank you for commenting! I had a quick check with my large bowl now and I reckon it could do a kilo of almond in the big bowl. It certainly fits it easily. The only factor to consider is that the motor might get hot, but honestly as quickly as it makes nut butter I doubt it would be a problem. I usually only make about 300g at a time so I can't guarantee this - but I think if you want something for nut butter, this is a really good option! Liv xx

Second time making almond butter!! It is perfect! Even better than thermomix for this purpose :) However, I tried to make rice flour and didn't get good results. I guess we need more than one kitchen toy to achieve good results in different tasks. But for me almond butter was really important, so I'm very happy with it.

You're probably right - certain things we need different equipment for. Thanks for checking back in! :)

Hi, this might be to do with it not being entirely closed/secured. I don't work for Magimix so you might be better off talking to them, but I think I do remember having something like this when I first tried it, and realised that it was to do with either the bowl being secured on the base properly, or the lid being clicked into place. How is it for blending soups, compared to Vitamix?
@TheFromScratchBody

Hi Pax, I’ve never tried a Vitamix, so I couldn’t say comparison wise. I haven’t really used the food processor to mix soups either - you might have seen on my channel that I’ve now got a Cook Expert which is just incredible for soups! But my guess is that this would blend soups perfectly well too. The mixing is very powerful.

I finally made the purchase and I'm unfortunately rather disappointed, trying to make hazelnut butter for the first time today. 2 1/2 cups hazelnuts and after about 10 minutes, still nothing. @@TheFromScratchBody no I didn't think I had to roast the nuts. It stayed in sticky powder form, constantly sticking up against the sides so the blades just turned and turned on empty. I finally added half a cup of vegetable oil to get it to stay down in the bottom, and seems ok, though I'm unhappy to have to add oil. I just tried the same with almonds, same problem. The machine is now so hot I've had to leave it. Does your machine get hot? I think I'm gonna contact Maggie cos very unhappy to spend 400+€ on a machine that doesn't do the main job I bought it for ☹️

I hear you - if it’s not working for you then of course you’ll want to try something different! I definitely recommend trying roasting the nuts first and letting them cool and then run them in the fp, I have made nut butter (peanut, almond and hazelnut) without any issues in it, but always roasted (as I prefer the taste). A few people have messaged me with the same issue you’re having and when they try roasting they get back to me and let me know that changed things! So you could give it a go if you feel it’s worth a try. I do remember it took me a minute to get fully comfortable with the processor when I first had it… you kind of get to know it after a while! Good luck whatever you choose to do! ♥️

@TheFromScratchBody

That is a good and important question! No, it's not very loud at all. I've had loud kitchen appliances before and they really annoy me! It can of course be loud for a few seconds if you try to crush something frozen for example, but the motor and equipment itself feels like it is as quiet as it can be for the job that it's doing! I don't know how it compares to other products, but I'm very happy with the noise level of it.
