Amazing scenery, fantastic food and dark skies - that is what it's all about in Tuscany, Italy. I travelled to the dark skies of Tuscany with my full astrophotography rig in my backpack (consisting of multiple astro cams such as my ZWO ASI183 and TS2600 APS-C, my William Optics GT71 and iOptron HAE29). Apart from the first two days, I could photograph nearly every night!
Join me in my roadtrip to capture the culture and follow me on my adventures in the dark!

Wow, nice video! Looks like a great trip to IT. Are you happy with the HAE29? I am planning to get a new mount and this one is also on my shortlist. Any flaws/disadvantages you can tell?

Hey there, thanks a lot! ☺️ I want to do an extended review at some point, but it'll take some time still. For now, I really enjoy this mount, pretty lightweight and so compact! One thing I'd mention is the polar wedge: I know that some folks are not too happy with it (as you have to apply some force to fully lock it, but there is a hex key you can/should use as lever, that is included). For me this is no problem at all => Best example is my recent trip: Did the PA once in the beginning, didnt re-align and was able to image for several days...so I wouldnt worry too much about it. I think the HAE29 beats the ZWO competition (better weight ratio + full hand controller + better price). Cheers and CS! 🌌

Nice video. Can you tell me more about the setup of HAE29? I bought an HAE29 EC, but still not use it. Did you use with or without guiding?

Hi and thanks! I'm using mine with guiding (non encoder version, so I have to use guiding). For the EC version I've read that its good to combine it with guiding as well (5 s guide intervals, exposure ~1-2s). Using it on the fitting carbon tripod and a little pier to safely turn my Newton scope. Controlled via NINA on PC and PHD2. Hope that helps! Clear skies! :)

True that hae29 can only be controlled on pc (i use nina for instance) when the hand controller is used?

Hello, yes that is the case (as far as I use it and have tested it). I guess it might be possible to connect it via Wifi - the Hae29 spans up a wifi network - but I have tried that only with my phone so far. With NINA/PC I need my 'real' Wifi for internet, so I use the USB connection on the handcontroller. Clear skies!
