The list : Magnesium Citrate - could help with constipation, i.e. could lead to diarrhea if overused. Magnesium Sulphate - just stay away for internal use - use to rub on muscles instead. Magnesium Glycinate - well tolerated by most people, combined with amino acid so highly bioavailable. Magnesium Tuarine - another linked with amino acid - help with metabolic syndrome...to be verified. Magnesium L Threonate - supposedly crosses the brain-blood barrier and can help relieve the mental conditions like lack of anxiety, sleep, depression, dementia. Supposedly. Magnesium Oxide - just avoid unless you really can't afford any of the others above. Magnesium chelate - could be either Glycinate or Tuarine or some other amino acid - the manufacturers are rather shy to make known just what is binding to the magnesium. Use as per the above with amino acid stuff.

Supplements taken daily: 1) Centrum Silver Multivitamin for Women 50+, 2) Magnesium Citrate Softgel 500 mg, 3) Vitamin D3 + K2 Softgel 125 mcg/100 mcg and 4) L-Arginine 1000-2000 mg. I have mentioned magnesium citrate on the previous video re: magnesium; this is the complete picture. Quite happy and content with the outcome and results. Otherwise on no prescriptions. Known medical conditions include spastic cerebral palsy (premature birth, but CP not diagnosed or treated until age 3) and surgically-induced lymphedema of bilateral lower extremities (since 1978). Two surgeries in total of BLE, 1971 and 1978. Blessed with good health with minor nuisances, all things considered.

They toxic.. ! 😢 We need ALL Vitamin B’s for our Stomach acid to Function… !!!!! ESPECIALLY that PPIS … Lower VITAMIN B 12 and One gets anaemia or low IRON . ZINC and other minerals are needed up or Increase our stomach acid especially as we AGE.. If our Minerals ie Manganese / Copper . Zinc ETC… etc.. are out of Balance OUR whole Digestion system is affected… Copper can either BE too low or Too HIGH.. Never add Copper.. unless tests are done.. never take more than 40/30 Mg of Zinc. Per night time.. ( not in the day) Always Check Vit D3 levels With Blood test. Never Stop taking D3 as it’s a Hormone.. and it’s a morning VITAMIN… Add Vitamin K2.. m7 or AND k2 Foods. GLUTATHIONE is involved in antioxidant process to prevent aging and CANCER. After age 50 we make less Glutathione!!!! From Our Food… So our Stomach Acid reduces… 😱 If we don’t eat, Fresh Greens, Salads. Herbs. Legumes/ Vegetables. Fruit/ and Protein daily this adds to lower stomach ACID! They lower Vitamin D . And CALCIUM levels, AND Vitamin C, then Causes Anaemia low Iron… and BONE density… Magnesium levels. Are lowered BY PPIS… One can feel Light headed or dizzy! We don’t make Vit B, C , D,E.. etc Most people need extra vitamins after Age 50-60.. Hope this helps… 🎉 It’s from memory..

Love your videos. Minor correction regarding magnesium citrate. Citric acid does come from citrus fruit but nearly all (99%) is now manufactured from a process that uses a form of aspergillus niger (black mold). It's known as MCA or manufactured citric acid. Mold is filtered out but reactions that include muscle aches, joint pain, breathing problems etc. have been known to occur in response to MCA, but not to the citrus fruit form. Although reactions are rare it's something to consider, especially if you have issues with mold.

@michaelhayes4759

Same MCA so yes. Probably most are safe but would be careful about cheap supplements sourced from China, etc. since filtering processes there may not be ideal. Also would consider alternatives to citrates if you have a severe mold allergy. I have one so I avoid all citrates just to be on the safe side.

You had me cracking up! Your banter is amazing! How did we know Dr Zalzal would talk about chicken wings! And how did we get to his bathroom with a bubble bath, candles and jazz music playing! Last time he accused Dr Weening of being a boomer and he's still on his case about being boring! But you did give us a nice list of magnesium to take. Even though you lost count and Dr Weening kept talking and tried to give us every magnesium on the planet! Did he mention the magnesium that appeared in the meteor that just landed on our planet? I really loved this episode because I'm a compulsive list maker! I was thrilled when Dr Weening snuck in more than your official list!😋 You two are a riot, you make learning so much fun! Now that you know I'm a compulsive list maker, you know I wrote all of them down! Although I only wrote 4 down and included the ones not to take. So I actually wrote down 5! Your lists are so thorough, better than any I have made! Once again you've come through and given the information we asked about! We've had a nice dose of chicken wings but learned they don't contain any magnesium! If only they did, Dr Z would be so happy, he would never need any supplements and live on just chicken wings! He would be smiling all the time!😁 But man cannot live on chicken wings alone, Dr W will gladly give you kale to balance your diet! 😉 Thanks for sharing another hilarious video and making our day! 👍

My use came from 5 yrs ago when I started developing drop in blood pressure when quickly getting up, over few months. My GP was concerned and ordered full Cardiologist workup, EKG, Echo-cardiogram, stress test,... Cardiologist found everything OK and advised that I may try taking Mg supplement, it may help. It helped indeed, when I went to the Doc' I was in the process of constructing pathway in backyard requiring a lot of kneel-down-stand-up work and I needed to stop it, dizziness was exhausting. After just few weeks on common Mg supplement, Mg Oxide from Sundown, 500mg/day those symptoms were gone and never came back(I keep taking it). I finished that project easily as in younger days. Hope this experience can help someone with similar issue.

I love that you guys are in Canada as well! I always advise that people do bloodwork before and during to make sure of the proper dose. As well they aren’t just making expensive urine when they are deficient😂they last 3 years I’ve been dealing with Neuroendocrine Cancer so I do have dangerous deficiencies. I take 6,000mg of Mg gluconate which would have disastrous side effects on a regular person. I’m regularly have my levels checked but it does shock doctors and pharmacists. Also my level of Potassium supplements would cause a cardiac event in an average healthy person. Do you also suggest patients get regular blood checks? Thanks, I really enjoy how your channel covers such a range of topics.

I take on a daily basis a 420 mg Magnesium-Oxide tablet, the Canadian brand Swiss Natural (go figure). I used to have cramps and charlie-horses, all went away after a few weeks of daily intake. Same with my neighbour, who had very severe leg cramps. His doctor approved and his cramps disappeared. After your video, I checked its composition. It is 420mg of magnesium-oxide, which is equivalent to 252mg of elemental magnesium. No idea what that means, but it works, which is what counts for me.

I love these videos. You guys are so nice and so helpful and funny as well.😊 My question would be, if you're already taking something prescribed for a condition - such as Areds 2 for AMD - how can you tell what dosage of other vitamins is safe? I'm already taking D for osteoporosis and recently added B12 to help my memory banks,😉 so wouid I be overdosing on vitamins by adding magnesium to the Areds2 along with the B12? 🤔

Great info - thanks! I have a question about the type of magnesium - I see magnesum glycinate supplements that, when you read the ingredients list - are marked as a blend - ie., - magnesium glycinate blend - glycine, magnesium oxide, magnesium glycinate chelate. Is that still magnesium glycinate? Does magnesium oxide + glycine = magnesium glycinate? Thanks.

Yeah, I take Magnesium Glycinate. It is SO expensive in the US. It would be nice if supplements were regulated by the FDA and covered by insurance. Big Pharma, however, would never allow that to happen.

Oxide is just absorbed slowly so magnesium levels in blood don't skyrocket, as in case of citrate, but gradually increases. So taking oxide can be considered better option as you want to maintain stable upper levels and not acute attacks of Mg concentration in blood.
