Jason you will tell your mom her brother says hey when you get to heaven. We love you and will always have you in our hearts. I wish I had known what you were going through other than what you told me and Brenda at your mothers wake.

Thank you forever Jason Molina, your music fits sadness like a knife fits it’s sheath. I wish you were still here, I hope things feel better now in the great oblivion.

You can tell his band members have the ultimate respect for him, they see him all the time and they still are in awe riding on each of his words... Jason was very sick here and he still hits every note with ease... he was the universe's gift to all of us 14000,000,000 years and one Jason Molina, there will never be anyone even in the same dimension as him.

Amazing video. When Jason was going through his rough patch before his death, I used to sing “Hold on Molina”...I can barely listen to this song without shedding a tear.

Magnolia is a flower that is known to represent feminine beauty, so this song could be him talking to a loved young lady, maybe a southern belle, telling her to be strong through his passing. Magnolia also means perseverance and longevity. This sound could be a cry for his health to hold on, for him to persevere. To hold on.

One of my favorite videos. Was lucky enough to see Jason Molina live in Atlanta around the late 90s/ 2000s. A great artist and band; Fantastic performance here

I got into Songs:Ohia by accident when i wrote down the wrong name of a band a friend suggested. Not the sort of music i would listen to put feel in love with Molina's music. Was looking to get to the states to see Jason live.... alas... i was too late. RIP

Hold on Magnolia to that great highway moon No one has to be that strong But if you're stubborn like me I know what you're trying to be Hold on Magnolia, I know what a true friend you've been In my life I have had my doubts But tonight I think I've worked it out with all of them Hold on Magnolia, I hear that station bell ring You might be holding the last light I see Before the dark finally gets a hold of me Hold on Magnolia to the thunder and the rain To the lightning that has just signed my name to the bottom line Hold on Magnolia, I hear that lonesome whistle whine Hold on Magnolia I think its almost time

I saw Jason play at Knitting Factory in NYC sometime in 2001. It was him an SG and a Fender Twin Reverb and I had never been so impressed by anyone in my time of seeing live music in NYC. RIP to one of the best. Truly one of the most under rated and most talented song writers of the past 10 years.
