I love the Ser razor black hornets, flies like a field point and is devastating on game. I tried the string method for the serrations without any success. Found some tiny, diamond grit rat tail files on Amazon, way faster and way easier to sharpen the serrations.

Thank you for helping me with my homework with this excellent tutorial. I have purchased the sharpening jig, but am having trouble taking the taking out the bleeder blades. Is it possible to do a video on disassembling and reassembling for proper alignment of the head? Again thank you for sharing.

On a brand new blade, how many passes are you roughly taking with the string to sharpen each serration? I know it depends, but just a ballpark number?

Be careful you can oversharpen and ruin the tanto tip. The rolled over edges shown in the beginning is part of the tanto. You get rid of that the tip gets weak. Ive also seen the sharpness test at 175 out of the box.
@ThirdLawPair3 ай бұрын
Tonto tips are overrated, and 175 is garbage. People talk about shaving sharp because it doesn't actually have to be that sharp to cut hair and most people have very low standards for sharpness.

If you get rid of the tanto tip on this broadhead the tip will curl without a doubt

Beginner question so take it easy on me: so does using a leather strop and compound alone do anything? I would buy old heads off eBay and I was under the assumption that using a stroup would ATleast get them back to their original sharpness
@caswellthompson64323 жыл бұрын
It totally depends on the condition of the broadhead. Some can be be taken back to original (or better) with a fair amount of stropping but if there's knicks or rolled edges they'll need sharpening

Sharp is owned by you after you practice with it so out of the box sharp wont mean much. Accuravy is also on you, not the broadhead. If one piece, how many blades do you want? What weight?
@tonykleinhans13142 жыл бұрын
Cut throat broadheads , there about $28 a piece , you want quality your going to pay for it ,,,, you want a good head you definitely aren’t going to find them hanging on the shelf at your big box sporting good store!!!!!!!!! I will never ever shoot any type of broadhead that is built around an aluminum ferrule! They bend almost anytime they hit something hard….

I never feel like such a failure as when I try to sharpen my broadheads. I can never do it correctly. I have the guide, Sharpy the edge, and then just proceed to make sandpaper into printer paper.
@innovativeoutdoorsman50673 жыл бұрын
Did you get a burr with the most coarse grit? That is the key.
@innovativeoutdoorsman50673 жыл бұрын
Are you using black wet dry sandpaper? If you use sandpaper meant for wood, You will fail every time.
