Troy Thank-You for showing us how to sharpen these blades. I took the time and sharpened mine like you have showed us. Where I live, I get 1 deer a year. I shot my deer just infront of the 2nd to last rib and it came out at the bottom of the hind quarter. deer went 250 yards and just fell over. would have never have done that with factory sharpness. Keep up the great videos......PJ

That'd be a #1 Philips screw driver for the screw. The individual serrations can be sharpened also......with a string (stretched between 2 nails in a block of wood) coated with buffing compound. Just be sure when the string is pulled through it's pulled away from the ferrule and on the deepest side of the serration. Sharpen the serrations FIRST then the main blade.

Exactly, you almost have to look at it like they expect you to personally hand sharpen them. Could you imagine how expensive broadheads would be if they hand sharpened everything lol. I think of it as shot protection, I feel so much less pressure because I know if I miss my mark, at the very least that sucker is going to cut and give me the best chance at a kill shot. Do you have any tips on sharpening replacement blade broadheads, say like a QAD Exodus or is it pretty much the same thing?

I too have had great success with the MAGNUS Black Hornet serrated blades. Shooting them out of my Barnett Raptor FX, they go through hogs like a hot knife through butter! That said, I've never sharpened, them, just always use a new blade. Is your stropping device hand made using a piece of leather? The barbers used to use a leather strop to put the final edge on their straight razors. Good video Troy!

I used these magnus for two years, got reasonable blood trails and was happy with them I guess. Better than exodus. Luckily, I decided to try a grim reaper whitetail special.. I'm so glad I did. Last year the buck I killed was at 31 yards, I was shaking like a leaf and hit dead on liver. We all know what can happen with a liver shot. If I hadn't been using the grim reaper, that would have been the case. The big 3 blade hit gut, liver and thank God, lung also. Them grim reapers leave a hellacious bloodtrail. Goes to show every broadhead has a downfall though, had perfect shot placement on a doe with the grim reaper, but must have caught esophagus because I had gut matter though it was a double lung hit. Guess that's better than having a smaller bloodtrail, and less lethality on the animal though. BTW, have yet to not have a full pass through with the grim reapers. And I only shoot a 27.5" draw length and a 53 pound draw weight.
@misterwhymer44732 жыл бұрын

Shot a deer with the 4 blade model. They fly well. Experimenting with the Ozcut Chinese knock offs. Can get them reasonably sharp, but takes some work. Not sure if they are all tempered the same. Some of these stainless steel broadheads seem to be harder steel than others and more difficult to sharpen. They are the best flying, traditional style, cut on contact broadheads I have ever shot. They have the same cutting width as as Zwicky Eskimo. 150 grains, monolithic. We shall see.
