I feel like Carlsen must've really enjoyed this game. He played a rare opening at the super GM level looking for a novelty and Firouzja was up to the task. Through their play over the board they debated the strengths and weaknesses of the novelty. I think Magnus offered the king and checkmate as a sign of respect and because it led to a beautiful checkmate, with the queen behind the king - the queen being the first major piece to attack in the Scandinavian.

I have a feeling he'll just brush off this game as too many poor moves to be taken too seriously. At some point he was ahead by enough of a margin that in classical he would have most likely prevailed. Point is, both did not play this game up to their respective strengths.

It kind of surprised me to be honest. I have to doubt he didn't see the mate coming. But it's not uncommon to miss a pawn, when there's this much tension on pieces with a handful of forced checkmates incoming.

If the rook blocks the queen check I think Magnus gets to a position where he trades his queen for a rook and a minor piece

"When I ask you who the best chess player in the world is, you will obviously name 3 people: number one, yourself; number two, your favorite youtuber, myself; and number three, Magnus Carlson." -Levy 2021 I hope he is trolling with the first two picks. No offense to Levy, but while he is a strong chess player in his own right, he's not best in the world.

12:40 YES THERE IS A BISHOP CHECK THAT SCARES VERY MUCH Bb7 double check, if king takes then KABAM- Rc7 check wins the Queen. The ONLY other move is Kd7 and now he's wide in the open. Mic drop.

when he said pause and find it 13:07 I assumed he would have played bishop A8. Create an additional move for black to have to take the bishop with the rook. I understand this is bullet but I"m talking about the commentator asking for us to find the move.
