A great lesson in coordination from Magnus, illuminated well by you. Thanks Jerry.

Carlsen’s Pirc borrows heavily from the Czech variation where Black plays c6 & Qa5 to get in a support e5. Supposedly the best way to meet the Czech Pirc is the “Austrian” attack with pawns at f4,e4 & d4. Very curious to know how Carlsen would handle such an attack. Anyway, exciting game… both players were fearless! Thanks for highlighting it & your spot on analysis.

Magnus has a talent making his pieces just a little bit more coordinated than his opponents', instinctively or not, and he's obviously has been unmatched in this skill so far

Hey Jerry, the Qf8 move is also sensible if you look at the other moves Carlsen could've played. qe7 goes into a pin, qd6 provokes rd1, qc5 meets be3 and the rest of the moves hang the queen.

6:50 why is white's bishop bad, if it is active? I'd really appreciate it if someone could pls explain this to me. Thanks!

after move 25 instead of 26 Qc7 maybe Ra2 would have been a better try threatening Ra7a4 cause the black Q is rather unprotected on b4, feels more resilient and its easy to overlookcause it looks like a passive atemp to protect pawn b2

1:38 how if white defend it by Bd2? Where should the queen go?

Ah the myth of Jerry haters. It is a long lost tale, whether there is truth to such beings, who knows? Perhaps we will never know. Some of the worlds mysteries will never be solved.

7:25 but the white knight also has e4 covered no?
@NoahNoahNoahNoahNoahNoahNoah2 ай бұрын
You're right that taking with the queen would be strange - but don't forget the knight on ...Nf6 also attacks e4. So black's ...Qb4 creates a double attack and now black threatens to swipe a e4 with the knight.

@@NoahNoahNoahNoahNoahNoahNoah thanks for responding - appreciated! yes would be strange if exchange was initiated by black queen tho instead of knight which is what it seemed like Jerry was talking about..
