You know how when a player resigns, they just shake hands with the other player without saying anything and walk away because it's understood that they lost? What if two players shook hands like that and walked away, but both of them silently thought that their position was lost? Would that count as both of them resigning? Obviously this would never happen with players like Magnus and Nepo. But I bet this could easily happen with lower rated players.

Agreed. It’s so tense how just one inaccuracy can impact the whole game. Them consistently drawing is a testimony to how strong they really are. @@odjsjaks Less safe this game, much more asymmetrical and headed into the endgame with chances to convert than Games 1-3. Carlsen was the person who pulled the ripcord for a draw here because he lacked an advantage to convert a close-in Knight/Rook duo into anything and the A-pawn was too deep. Nepo could play for the win if he had White's half-tempo.

@@odjsjaks Accuracy is everything in classical chess and always has been, regardless of the time period. If you make a bad move it can be taken advantage of when they have hours on the clock they will take advantage of it usually via calculation. As for what chances Nepo had in this game, he never really had a chance besides Magnus not capturing en passant so Nepo got a passed pawn and he had to eventually draw the game because of it. Capturing en passant though basically makes the game go into a well known drawn endgame eventually.

uhh, Nepo played the Petrov a well studied line that is super safe for a draw, every move Nepo made this game was with only 1 purpose, to get yet another draw. Agad wasted time showing guy in picture and editing that part might of been the difference. I'd honestly prefer a few more of those than someone being quicker to upload.

Don’t get why people complain about draws. These games are insanely intense and exciting. The amount of calculation that goes behind each step is insane. Arriving at a draw is like seeing someone successfully walk across a tightrope. Neither player can afford a margin of error greater than a hair width.

Yes. People hate it when this happens. Its a classical match. Not a rapid or blitz match. Sergey also drawed magnus in classical, fabi drawed magnis, And i think ita gonna happen again :/ We never say iys boring. But we dont like it like this. Just look at tal wcc match, you will feel the feelings and drama by just watching the games.

Im tired of Magnus in the championship. This is 16 straight draws we had to sit thru. These guys today are just memorizing engine moves and forgetting the beauty of chess. Bobby Fisher knew how to play. Someone win a damn game with some creativity please.

With little actual pressure from the clock in this classical format and the time they have to prepare for the match. As engines continue to improve can we expect anything else for now / the future of the championship match in the classical format? I feel like the only way to get "real" games is to put them under pressure from the clock / different formats obviously.
@louisvalencia5244

Bobby Fischer simply lived different times, when computers didn't exist. Now, no one is risking obviously. At this point Classical is a dead format, and what they need to do is semi-rapid or Fischer.
