The Julius Baer Generation Cup is the 7th of 9 events on the $1.6 million 2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour and takes place on chess24 from September 18-25. The 16-player field will be cut in half by the 4-day round-robin Prelims. The total prize fund is $150,000, with $750 for a win and $250 for a draw in the Prelims. The quarterfinals and semi-finals are 1-day, 4-game matches, while the final will feature two such matches over two days.
The players have 15 minutes for all their moves, plus a 10-second increment starting from move 1. In the Prelims there are 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. If a tiebreak is required the players will play two 5+3 games and then, if needed, a single Armageddon game, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4, but a draw counts as a win for Black. No draw offers are allowed before move 40. Official website: chess24.com/tour

Magnus crossed a Champions Chess Tour rating of 2900 and demolished the entire field in this tournament. No wonder Magnus is an absolute beast, with 5 world championship titles, 5 blitz and 3 rapid world championship titles. The highest number of world championship titles ever. Not only is he the highest rated player of all time but has held the number 1 ranking for more than 11 straight years!

Great and well deserved victory for Magnus against Arjun. This is a learning experience for Arjun-he only will get better and he already is a world class blitz player. But I am really excited to see how far Indian chess will go-Arjun, Praggnanandhaa, Gukesh and Nihal Sarin all have the potential to dominate the chess scene in the future (Usbekistan with Abdu and Russia with Esipenko and Murzin are also great). The Indians are humble and gracious in defeat-that’s a quality that makes them especially likeable. Future of chess is in very good hands. Greetings from Germany and all the best to my fellow chess followers. And also kudos to Antonio, great covery of the games as usual. You just have a commentary style that makes chess so interesting-we can feel your love and passion for chess.

Reached 2900, after losing against a 2700 on purpose. Magnus was pissed after St.Luis and went on the attack, super-aggressive chess with sacrifices and high risk. no better player in history of chess engines! Murphy and Capablanca never studied books of chess engines and player many many less games that people play today. Capablanca played blindfolded against 40 people at same time winning all games. I think with a Chess engine, studying all chess database of History Capablanca should have done better as well as Murphy. You can not compare different trainings, technology, supplements and knowledge across time and space, They were intuitive players (Genius) not from theoretical study. If you put Magnus Carlsen in 1800 on time of Murphy Im not sure MAgnus will have won all games against him, Capablanca or even Fisher.
@nickpapageorgio8529
@nickpapageorgio8529 Жыл бұрын
There’s a reason you can’t compare the 2 eras. This era has all the engines but that means everyone has access, therefore, there are more people to play against with that advantage. Before engines, you had to be creative. But that meant there were less good players. I try not to compare eras.

He has a video describing his best "Chess move" which was a queen sac leading to his first-ever win over a GM but outside of that is also well known to many ChessBrahs for bringing notoriety to the Jerome Gambit, playing an "unbeatable" queen sac variation of the Englund Gambit vs Queens Gambit, or even his own opening he recently discovered (Hambleton Defense).

He left WC because we all know how those 14 games works alot draws and you can't stop opponent from drawing if they want in classic it's hard and magnus even loosing point after draw so for reaching 2900 he sacrificed WC and he won't play again until he don't reach 2900 and if he takes to long he will never play WC again

@@Trappenheimer haha no. More like an angry lion than wounded. Carlsen after all has shown repeatedly that he doesn't get sore about defeats. But he hates cheaters with passion. This tournament was just about showing his class and to release some steam. He showed that he can just give away matches and still win the tournament with ease. Not really surprising though, Carlsen is Goat for a reason.

@@kunalsingh4418 I agree with you. Carlsen's chess spoke for itself. In this tournament particularly he has been unstoppable. A different breed. It was really hard to see Arjun's face. He was bleeding from inside. But there is nothing to do. Magnus is a different breed.
