For a while, I almost lost my joy for painting but then I found your channel and I began to paint again. I believe it is because you are art is so unique and beautiful, it inspired me and it made me remember how much fun the painting process really is and I also remembered the limits is only in my head. I wish you and yours all the best and I can't wait until the next videos.

I could listen and watch you all day. This painting is one of my favourites... You could take several small sections of it and they would make beautiful little works of art all on their own. 💜💙💜

I am completely "obsessed" with your art!! You have really elevated watercolor art to the next level. I am always fascinated while watching your process. Your art is so beautiful and it makes me so happy. You are the reason that I bought watercolors again, and will start playing with art again. Thank you! Sharon. :)

Absolutely lovely! I just bought all 4 of your books AND your coloring book, that's how much I love your work! I'm new to watercolor, from colored pencil (mostly portraits). Maybe that's why I find my drawings so stiff compared to your work. I'd like to learn to work 'looser'. I'm just in love with the giant gnarly trees that are in many of your paintings, they're so full of character and life. I feel like if I could master those, I could get a better handle on my overall technique. I'd be eternally grateful if you'd be willing to do a KZbin tutorial on how you draw and paint them. Thanks so much!

thanks for that suggestion! And if you ever come to california, do some hiking because our trees really look like that. :D It's the live oaks!

Thank you Stephanie for that beautiful video. You are my number one inspiration in watercolour painting. I have had copper and gold leaf for a while now and not known truly how to use it. I will give your technique a go. Just out of interest, how do you initially seal the painting so the watercolours don't smudge. Thank you.😁

This is amazing! SO beautiful!! May i ask you? Do you use also Glue for the copper leaf in the beginning of the piece with the 3 birds. And afther that the white watercolor gesso?

Hi Stephanie, I love your work! could you please explain how you are using the copper leaf with watercolor ground? Everytime I combine them (white and transparent watercolor ground) the copper leaf patinas. Then the patina bleeds blue green color into other parts of the painting and continues reacting any time I add water. Its a useful effect to know about if thats what I want....but so far its not. I want that shiny stuff you get, not the dull bleeding blue stuff I am getting. What am I missing?
@StephanieLaw5 жыл бұрын
Possibly might be the brand? I had that happen only once and have been trying to recreate, but have never been able to get it to bleed patina again. I just have a bunch of loose sheets in a folder, so I have no idea what brand(s) i have
@julie.eperry77775 жыл бұрын
@@StephanieLaw Well, if you want the patina effect I have found that both the copper leaf and imitation gold leaf in the brand L.A. Gold Leaf seem to cause strong patina with both the white and transparent Daniel Smith watercolor ground. I bought an inexpensive pack on Amazon containing "Imitation Gold(100) Imitation Silver(100) Genuine Copper(100) Total EN: 300 Leaf Sheets 14 X 14 Cm". They seem to react when they are placed together and also after it dries if I add water and more paint the reaction seems to increase and continue to spread into any places that contain the watercolor ground, not just the flakes of gold leaf. I have not yet tried sealing it before continuing to paint. If you have recommendations for gold leaf I'd appreciate it. I got some small squares of another brand of edible quality gold leaf but it seems prone to turning to dust instead of flakes or bigger pieces that make interesting texture.

lovely ...great to see you in action 😊 Steph why couldn't you just lay the epoxy resin straight on to your painting... I see that artists are laying the resin and painting in between layers with a little acrylic to give it more depth ... have you ever tried doing that ...? 🌹
@StephanieLaw5 жыл бұрын
Because I paint in watercolors, not acrylic. Watercolors reactivate with moisture. So if resin were poured directly on top, the watercolors would dissolve and blur off the page
@terryernest62645 жыл бұрын
Steph ...right ... I've not tried it ... I didn't think of epoxy as moisture, but more of a liquid plastic ... I'll give a go and see what happens ...cross fingers 😁 We'll it went on alright without any of the colours running or smudging ...one the edges hasn't cover properly... but that's because in haste I forgot to level it ...when it drys I'll see if it takes watercolour on top of the resin and pour another thin layer on top... I know acrylic would work but watercolour might be pushing it a bit far ... :) 💕

It discolors paper and leaves blotches as it soaks into the paper, if it's not been sealed.
