it is not insane it is pricing strategy, separate different component and sell them separately. Apple could sell them in bundle not separately but you will price will be higher say $169. In this way they can keep the price low (as low as apple price goes). think this way if you already have the 30W charging brick, why buy a $169 magsafe duo with a 30w brick billed in ? We buy thing we think additional things in the box are free, no they are not, they are all billed in, same way there are no such thing as free shipping as well.

I picked this up as a convenient charging solution when making quick trips. It can charge my phone, air pods and watch with one device using one of my 90 watt chargers. My devices rarely drop below 35% so an overnight charging cycle isn't a problem.

It is overpriced, but I do like the look of it particularly for travelling. Nice that the cable is separate, so you can match with a 2 m cable if need more reach, and also having separate cable makes it more convenient to carry than the regular MagSafe. And of course the same cable can be used to charge the iPhone plugged in if a quick charge is required. I do think Apple should include a charging brick with it for that price.

@Falcon that doesn't follow when until year before every iPhone shipped with usba charger, meaning pretty much none of the people buying iPhone 12 have a usb charger. Apple gets to make bank on all those millions of people having to go buy a charger from them for $19 that would would have had to included for free. now instead of one box you get 2 boxes so much for helping the environment. It's that or they throw away the included usb c to lightening cable since it won't work with their usb a charger. so apple makes more money and pollutes the environment more with extra packaging and plastic. I had to go buy usb C charger, as did all my family and 95% of people buying iPhone 12s. only people who bought last years iPhone 11 Pro got usb c charger, everyone else has a usb a 5 watt charger or usb A iPad charger. for your and apples logic to work they would have had to 1. include no cable, or 2. include standard usb a to lightening cable. To finish you have to either buy a $19 charger and throw away your old cables, or throw away the included usb c cable. what a waste. only makes sense if apple making more money off accessory sales is the goal.

People are seeing this as they saw the Pro Display XDR and its stand. It's expensive, but do you want a dual charger you can take with you? This is the Magnetic Charging Dock for the Apple Watch but it can also charge your phone, you bring one cable, one adapter, and you can charge both devices. The question is: do you need something that can charge your phone and your watch. If yes, it's something you can consider. The next question is: do you need it to be portable. If that's a yes, you have almost no other option. If you're just using it as a nightstand charger, it's very likely not for you. And if you're using it as a nightstand charger, you probably already have a brick that you keep plugged in there anyway. You're not only paying for the product, you're paying for the convenience. Is it overpriced? If you answered yes to the questions I posed, no, it probably isn't.

I read somewhere that by using the 20w adapter you will get 11-12w MagSafe Charging. If you use 27w or higher power brick you will get 14w MagSafe charging

I won’t buy it for 3 reasons. 1.Overpriced 2.No charging brick included 3.MagSafe will leave a circular imprint on your iPhone cases.I haven’t bought the standalone MagSafe charger for that reason. I am sticking with normal Qi wireless charging.

It’s cool but for around $150 you could get the Scosche Baselynx to charge 3 devices and it’s modular so you can pick which device you want to charge. It might not be MagSafe but having the ability to charge my phone, AirPods, watch, and IPad all in one place has been awesome. I’m pretty clearly an Apple fanboy I even get their cases pretty much exclusively but this one while cool isn’t the best option if you have anything more than just a phone and watch

I think it’s expensive but worth it, my £40 wireless charger is big and clunky with no MagSafe, extremely hard to take when travelling without breaking the wireless charging phone stand. This one folds up into such a small form factor, has MagSafe so it’s always a plus, can be used with just one side, fits into my pocket, and works off lightning which I always have so for me it’s a yes 🤷🏽‍♂️

I would love to see some form of wireless charging end up in the iPad Pro Magic Keyboard. Countless times I've placed my iPhone or Airpods on top of my closed Magic Keyboard and thought how great it would be if they began charging. Maybe even allow for some low voltage charging straight from the iPad's power reserve for when you desperately need a boost.

Sent MagSafe Duo Charger back to Apple today as my Tesla can wifi charge my iPhone XS with its protection back cover on but Apples MagSafe Duo Charger will not so I have to remove the cover each time so might as well go back to plugging the phone in and not have the hassle for such an expensive wifi charger.

depends on you band. If you have a band that doesn't easily split like any of the loop bands, this charger is a PITA because you have to pass the band under the charger, then it sits awkwardly and sometimes detaches itself if you try connecting it too quick and dont pay enough attention to how the band is resting underneath.

You don't need the USBC Power Adapter if u use a MacBook Pro 2016 or later or a Computer with USBC Ports or the Apple XDR Display or A Anker Power outlet that has a USBC and 2 Regular USB ports

Don't like the floppy design and obviously the lack of a wall plug adaptor is ridiculous and brings that cost to to just under $150 or more. Problem with the iPhone magsafe is that the magnetic attraction is too weak, unlike the watch it doesn't just snap on, especially if you have a case on (even a thin one).
