Mahi at The Steeples off Oak Island NC

Slick calm in the Gulf Stream at The Steeples off Oak Island and Southport NC! No Hoo’s like we were after. Still early. Two other knock downs that came up empty, and a white marlin that jumped through the spread 5-6 times first thing this morning. Otherwise nada trolling. Packed up and headed to bottom fish, but came across a weed line on the way in. Casted at mahi for an hour. Nothing. Hundreds of them. Would't take chunks of ballyhoo either. So we went and found some live bait, and it was on! Left them biting when the livewell dried up.
