The highest gear with lowest suitable rpm always works. My endeavour once gave 14kpl compared to 9kpl when I was just revving it up to go full speed on highway

18 kmpl is way better no than ARAI claimed number. But if you your car is fully occupied with luggage and people. there might be chances of getting 10-12 kmpl.. and of course you need AC in ON mode because you don't want to suffocate your passengers. so, for less people this is great method to check Fuel Economy. and one more thing. Have you put this car in Cruise control ? RPM was not moving, its stuck on same reading.
