I’m on my 3rd remage Criterion brand barrels and I’m having great success with them!! I’ve never had one to come lose. Through lots of analysis, of using different torque settings on the barrel nut, I haven’t seen any accuracy differences. Accuracy with these barrels are as good as any aftermarket shouldered barrels that I use or have used. Great video and content!! Thank you!!

Hoping to see the results soon from the Terminus Actions “Zeus” Rifle Build... I have a Zeus chambered in 6mm Creedmoor and would like to switch the barrel out for .223 to save barrel life and practice just as described in the video...

I have the Curtis vector (same action as the Zeus). I run a prefit .223 and a custom 6.5cm I had my smith turn. They both shoot great. Give it the “snap” tight and torque the set screws. It takes about 3-5 shots sometimes to get the barrel to settle but it’s money after that.

I have completely gone to prefit barrels. I had them for a Tikka and now for a Terminus Zeus. Bugholes did my barrel and it's the best barrel I've ever had for accuracy and precision. Can't wait to see more of your videos John!

I’m due for a prefit barrel for my Tikka T3 soon. I’m at 1,750 rounds on my PVA shouldered prefit and hope to make it through this season. It’s amazing how accurate prefit barrels are now days

Being able to do my own work and (relatively) quickly swap barrels was a big selling point for Savage rifles when I got into precision shooting. Since it seems everyone and thier grandma followed on the design, which is nice.

I dislike shipping firearms period. Last year I bought a Impact Precision action and have two 6mm GT barrels for it now, my primary and the broken in backup... couldn't be happier with it.

On the Zeus, with each person having different strength the concept of "hand tight" seems quite subjective. Does that matter?

This might be a stupid question, but why not put the locking lugs into a barrel extension like in an AR?

I've heard the new savage straight pull rifles are using a barrel extension.

DD Delta 5, Barrett MRAD, Sako TRG M10, Q The Fix, and many others use a barrel extension.

Prefit all the way for the value, its the only thing i don't like about my model 70, captured feed and the shell extractor cut its irritating, want to go to 2506 Ackley improved and finding a gunsmith here is hard, WISH I HAD A LATHE and a few more machines:(

I had a 257/08 Ackley improved on a Savage 12 and it was stunning. I had A stock SS fluted Savage 25/06 barrel rechambered and shortened, I fire lapped it and one day I shot a three shot group that was in the .100s. No bs. I shot hundreds and hundreds of rounds testing that rifle and when I sold it with the throat going away, it still shot .75" at 200 yards.

Excellent overview of the topic. Based on all of this info, I'm definitely going to pursue something like a barrel nut system in the future. I think for the end user, it sounds like the most beginner friendly at home solution.

What about factory stocks barrel chamber. Lets say i fund a 700 adl sporter and i want to go up to a 308. Will a #5 heavy sporter barrel drop into the factory stock or do i need to budget, replacing the barrel and stock all at once?

Usually the barrel channel will need to be opened up.

Most gumsiths get this wrong. Setting the chamber at minimum is not necessary for the best accuracy and can cause other problems
