My thoughts exactly. In reality you could get a Remington 700 rifle and have it blueprinted and put trigger in it and have something "comparable"......key word "COMPARABLE" .....For probably less and have the ability to run long actions. But you would still be throwing good money at bad money.
@nicholi27894 жыл бұрын
@@kirkmartin2223 Not true. It will cost you around $1000-$1200 just to have a 700 blueprinted and able to accept an after market barrel. Factor in the cost of the action and a factory 700 is NOT worth it. You pay nearly 1400 to have a 700 ready to go, and it still doesn't have the feature set of a true custom action.

valid question. There are a few good options out there (defiance, zermatt). I don't think the price will drop that much as long as people keep buying the $1400 actions. When an $800 action comes out and is actually "just as good" as the $1400 action, then maybe.
@G5Hohn4 жыл бұрын
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork I think the Origin from Zermatt hints in that direction. The use of chromoly isn't a downgrade, and a pinned lug not much of a downgrade, and all the basic feature set remains. Post #342 dthomas "If you hold an aw mag up tight to the receiver it seems to feed well." Post #343 "The MDT's were horrible, kept nose diving with full mag. Wouldn't feed at all. With the AM I had one hiccup. With Magul, I only had 2 dummy rounds to try and both went smoothly. Would need a full mag to really see if there are issues." Post #344 "In my case, it’s the rear of the case diving. And no amount of opening the lips fixes it 100%. Lone peak runs perfectly. I may put the terminus up in the PX." Post #348 dthomas "The zues does have a ledge that prevents the over insertion that was a problem with Curtis." Post #358 dthomas "Anyone running BR cartridges in a Zues (6br, dasher, bra, brx, etc)? If so, what mags and/or kits are you using?" It isn't a whole lot about it one way or the other, some people seem ok and some not. One guy has over-insertion issues but then dthomas says it has a ledge to prevent it. I have a curtis vector and I can do what you did in the video, the real question is how does it behave if you remove the scope and clamp up the rear of the mag to the scope rail or just leave the scope on it and prop the rifle up with all pressure on the rear of the magazine. And repeat for AW mags. My Vector sure as shit doesn't work with upward pressure. I would love to switch to a Zeus but I am skeptical of it running flawlessly. I even ordered a Xylo to see if that fancy mag catch will allow me to run AICS without over-insertion. AW mags will grind but you can force it forward in my Vector.
@PrecisionRifleNetwork4 жыл бұрын
@@raining1975 lol thanks for typing all of that out. You definitely didn't need to go to that effort. I have a problem with the assumption that there's something wrong with an action because/after you have intentionally set it up in a condition that wouldn't happen under normal circumstances. I'm not accusing you of doing that. Literally every action, mag, chassis, and stock combo I own will have issues if I push the mag too hard from the bottom or front. (except my AI-AT) This isn't a normal condition. Very rarely, if ever, have I ran into issues during a competition in that way. Basically I'm saying, there's no need to put that much pressure up into the magazine or from the front. The only Curtis VS. Terminus statement I made in this video was about the terminus feeling smoother than the Curtis because it has no sharp edges. Each person has their own experiences, and my Curtis doesn't feed 6 Dasher or even 6GT reliably. I admitted it might be a magazine issue. I will eventually put the 6GT barrel on my Terminus action and see if it runs smoothly. If so, it would be safe to say that the Terminus bolt size is a win in that department. Bottom line for me, I think you can force or fabricate a condition where any of these actions don't run reliably. That's not a fair way to do things in my opinion.
@PrecisionRifleNetwork4 жыл бұрын
@@raining1975 Also, I believe there was a "version 1" of the Terminus that had a few minor issues. They corrected those immediately. Mine is the version 2, and I haven't had issues.
@raining19754 жыл бұрын
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork , I think the main problem is the mag is captured in the front so sliding the rifle up against a bag on a barricade can pivot the rear of the magazine upwards, especially on stocks/chassis that don't have as good of a stop as the MDT ACC. I know MPA has a little plastic thing to install on their chassis to prevent upward pressure from causing problems. The Xylo is supposed to have a hump on the mag latch to prevent over-insertion so clearly it is something that people desire even if it only happens a fraction on the time. I have no doubt the Terminus is better then the Vector but I still want a rifle to feed reliably and not when I baby the rifle. All it takes is 1 awkward stage where there is upward pressure on the mag and makes you a sad panda.
