Sterk shooting in Australia are making parts for the T1x. They include AI style bolt handle amongst others and bolt shroud and thread cap.

I'm surprised more bolt handles aren't AI style, they are soooooo nice to cycle.

A scope to consider that is available worldwide (For our friends outside the U.S.A.) is the Falcon M18+ 4-18x44 @ $350.00 or if you prefer more power they also have a 5-30x56 @ $400.00. Both are MRAD FFP with 10 mils per revolution and .1mil click value with a 30MM tube, a decent reticle and seems to gather light well. The reticle is not super busy, fairly fine for accuracy work and hash marks for elevation and windage holds. The turrets reset to zero with an Allen wrench. No zero stop though. Mine has minimal backlash and crisp clicks. Your opinion may differ from mine though in that regard. I use the 4-18x44 on a .308win for 600 yard matches and it has dialed very reliably for me. SWFA is the U.S. distributor and the price is set buy them. There is no MSRP amount on the Falcon Optics website or the SWFA website that I could find, so I don't know if that would cause a problem as far as the NRL rulebook is concerned.

I have the diamondback tactical 6x24 on mine. Love it. Best ammo I've tested thus far through mine is eley target. Under 3/4 MOA

You can get a TAB sling with the sling mount attachments on it. Also, the stages you use a sling on, you don’t use a bi-pod on and vice/verse so you could pull the bi-pod off when you put the sling on.

For what it's worth, I've got one of the older Covenants on my Grendel, and despite the lower magnification(4-16, I believe), it's given me no problems at 1000m. The turrets also track surprisingly well. I'm thinking of trying the Covvie 7 in a bit.

To level the playing field after spending $500. on the rifle, I would definitely max the budget on the right glass for the occasion and I agree that the "easy choice" is the Vortex Diamondback Tactical for a number of reasons: FFP, 6-24x50, EBR-2C Reticle (great for accurate holdovers/unders), parallax from 10 yds to infinity. Most 22 matches as you know have the shooter alternating between distances between 25 yards to 100 yards and accurate dialing or holdovers is a must as is quick/easy parallax adjustments. My current set up for open class is CZ 455, Manners stock, 24 inch barrel, DIP 20 MOA rail, Vortex PST gen2 5-25X50 FFP mounted with Vortex Precision Matched Rings and Harris S bipod. I only mention all this because although the rifle is a well known 1 MOA or less shooter, none of that matters without the right scope in a 22 match style competition. Thanks for the great vids. Looking forward to your subscribers choices and your follow up vid on your build.

Have you seen the new Hawke line of Frontier SF scopes? They have a nice looking reticle, illumination, parallax down to 15 yards, and I think they have a zero stop on the locking turrets. They are relatively light, and the 4-20x44 msrp of $549 would put you right at the max price for your build. Even if you’re not interested in it for NRL, I’d love to see you review it or their FFP models. Keep up the great work John, I’ve been a big fan since back when you had only 2k subscribers. The good Lonewolf days.

the trigger spring will make a huge difference, i have used the spring from Mountain Tactical Company on my centerfire tikka's. I have shot aftermarket drop-in triggers and the is little difference. Go for the Bushnell Engage scope.

I have YoDave shims and springs in my CZ452. I can get it down to 12 oz, but it is unsafe. Any jostling or just closing the bolt too fast drops the firing pin. At just over a pound, it's completely safe again. Just a heads up to test your rifle before you decide to go that low.

Hi John, Great Video production as always. I have been shooting the Tikka T1 since December (free standing) and I use a Athlon Neos 4-12x40 NON Illuminated SF SFP BDC 22 Rimfire. For £150 I find the Athlon range a really good scope with clear glass for the money. This model also has BDC for the 22. As with all Tikka, action nice a smooth and I love the idea it will drop in a rimfire stock too.

I have a Vortex Diamondback Tactical FFP 6-24x on my 10/22 and it’s fantastic, especially for the price. I just ordered a 4-16x for my 17hmr. The glass is great, the reticle is awesome and the same as one of my Gen II Razors on my Match rifle and it has 6 mil/rev turrets. Parallax goes down to 10 yards, which is huge for rimfire IMO. They only thing it doesn’t have is a zero stop, but all things considered I think that’s a small sacrifice.

I have the same scope on my Ruger precision Rimfire. I used the Burris Signature scope rings. They have different inserts to allow you to adjust the cant of the scope. I just added enough cant to essentially give me a zero stop. It stops four clicks below zero. It gives me 65 moa of elevation.

@@8541tactical Canted reticles and turrets failing to engage were the most common after moderate/heavy use. If you were a hobbyist I would maybe recommend one, but I would pony up the little extra for the diamondback tactical IMO. For some reason people think the covenant line is manufactured in partnership with Vortex. That is not the case.

Is it allowed in base class to drill holes in the stock to mount an adjustable cheek rest? If so i can see if i can't send you a nice adjustable cheek rest for the Tikka. Take a look at www.kalixteknik.com, if that fits the bill let me know and i talk to the manufacturer.

Cheek pieces are acceptable. The rules do not specify what type.. The Kalixteknik piece looks awesome. We are going to roll with the Victor Company Titan cheek piece this time around, but I would definitely be interested in looking at the Kalixteknik.
