14' : the lady has got the point. People keep this quaint form of gouvernance for a reason, the pomps and the theatrics! Beware not to slim down the institution too much! Stay dignified and appear humble and attentive to the people but keep some objective visibility, otherwise what is the purpose ?! Going all margaretha of Danemark would be ridiculous, stripping her own son and his wife who served her well and decently from their titles is a major fault. This episode is quiteinteresting regarding the coronation and mr tindall (who is a big opportunist) although you all look a bit bored and tired, lacking the usual flame.

Well as an Irish woman who whole heartedly followed the 10 days of mourning after the passing of QE2 and was blown away by the magnificent funeral I would be so disappointed by a slimmed down coronation. KC hopefully will have at least 20/25 yrs on the Throne which means for myself and many we won't be around to see Prince William and Princess Catherine become king and Queen. I'm a year older than Diana was and I never thought William would find a wife who could live up to her as a fashion icon. And he didn't. He found someone who is even better. Camilla may be the new Queen, but Catherine is the new royal fashion queen. She proved that with the gold number she wore to the James Bond premier. She was absolutely stunning.

You've got this the wrong way around; SHE was the first reason anyone was ever really excited about milquetoast Charles, who couldn't get a picture of him doing anything dashing and really sell it--from being invested with the ping-pong ball crown to sailing away on his first command that saw him promptly out of the Royal Navy! Meanwhile, the first picture of Diana "to go viral" 80s style (as in get printed in publications far and wide, including Newsweek in the US, where as a kid I saw it in one of those collected tidbits-of the-week pages up front) wasn't her standing beside her future ex-husband; it was the one that exposed she wasn't wearing a slip when the sun suddenly shifted as she widened her stance and held a toddler on her hip! She didn't need Charles or William to have every straight male thinking "MILF" from that alone, but then in addition to the way her long legs looked was the way she played those eyes beneath her hats and bangs that read the kind of demure but with comedic timing that you just knew had something more was there, especially with her alternating sparkling smile and pouty model-like expressions that got her lots of magazine covers where no one really cared what she was wearing long before they cared what she was wearing down the aisle!!!!

I love all the "reliable" KZbin royal commentary channels but I must say, *Palace Confidential* is the one show I always look forward to. Unless, of course, the unappealing, manic, & tedious Miss TD is a panelist. Everyone else, whatever their stance on the Royals, is fabulous.

The montage in the end, Princess Diana is soo beautiful (this word can't even describe fully her true radiance and beauty), everything she wears even in the 80s look soo iconic!
@reneec.venegas65602 жыл бұрын
Princess Diana should have been the crowned queen. But you are stuck with Camilla! I bet Prince William will be thinking of that on the day of the coronation.
@CooperJeanne2 жыл бұрын
@@reneec.venegas6560 I like Camilla and happy to see her as Queen. It's odd for you to still think Princess Diana 'should have been' Queen. Did you not read the histories and books? Charles and Diana divorced before she died and Camilla was always Charles one true love and Charles was forced/arranged to marry Princess Diana out of duty to the country (they met a total of 12 times before the wedding). All three of them were in an impossible situation. You need update your outdated views!

@@reneec.venegas6560 Diana had a lovely smile but she could never have been a good queen - she was moody, often sullen, unable to put her personal feelings on hold and "thick as a plank." William loved his mother but he is too smart not to realize her limitations!

There's a reason why its controversial to wear the Kohinoor right now, and its not being woke. The UK government is trying to clinch a trade deal with India, which would benefit the UK economy a great deal, especially after Brexit. And Queen consort wearing a crown with the Kohinoor is just not good optics right now with the trade deal and relations with India.

Simple solutions using new, natural, and creative things: Use synthetic ermine and English walnut oil! Design a new crown for Camilla, made by a British jeweler. Richard, you’re a dear, but YOU wear the civit oil on your forehead, and let King Charles wear the right end of something “fresher.” Great show.

Curious choice for Mike Tindall to join a reality show. I hope it won't be a slide down the dignity pole. Between H & M's high profile antics, a lower profile might be better. Lady C isn't part of the royal family.

I agree. I really admire Mike Tindall and how he has managed to balance being connected to the royal family with having his own life and the freedom to do his own thing. He has managed to stay real while maintaining respect and keeping his dignity. Reality shows do not support dignity.

Why is the 'fashion' sense of royal Princesses 'so' important to the media? Yes many ladies love to 'follow' the fashion choices of Royalty. What we have lost is a sense of respect for members of the Royal family. The Princess of Wales is a 'senior' member of the Royal family and needs to be seen and respected as such. The British Monarchy is an institution that needs to be respected. Yes it is 'traditional' but if it is just regarded as a 'photo opportunity' in order to sell more newspapers, then it has been turned into a 'commodity' and is not being given the due respect that should be given. The United Kingdom is a 'Kingdom. It is not a Republic and as such, the King and members of the Royal family should be treated with respect including by media writers and photographers. Pop stars etc etc are not members of the Royal family.

To RICHARD EDEN... you seem to have forgotten that now King Charles actually made quip about "perhaps" William and Catherine will eventually move to the "big house" (referring to Windsor Castle... I see it as only fitting now that they are Prince and Princess of Wales and with William,becoming heir to the throne... hardly fitting to cram their family into a house that does not even have room for a nanny...

The lady commentator....as always with the random, eyeorish, remarks. Of course the robes from 70 years ago won't have 'disintegrated', of course they can design something that won't include real ermine. I bet she'd just be happy if everyone wore morning suits....the woman has no understanding of British pomp and ceremony. Latest comment on Camilla wearing the controversial crown, "it's just not Camilla", silly comment. She always focuses on the negative, Eden is much more clued in. I also hope that the decision isn't taken to leave BP or to make Balmoral a museum. KC will be making a poor choice to abandon the heart of the country.

There is no need to use a different crown for the Queen Consort. Each Queen Consort Crown for several generations has been set with the Koh-i-Noor Diamond. In 1937, Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother) used the crown with the Koh-i-Noor and Queen Mary used a stone to substitute for the Koh-i-Noor because she was still living. So, they might switch out the stone, but there is no reason not to use the whole crown.

Diana was adorable but watching so many photos in quick succession I fear she may have been 'given to moods' - unfortunately. Sometimes joyous, sometimes sullen. Whereas Catherine still shows us the contented child at her father's knee during her childhood in Jordan. Interesting.
