Every virtue has a corrupted bastardized version of itself. For tolerance it seems to be apathetic indulgence. People need to remember that certain things are rightfully suppressed. Instead of helping people who are struggling with this, they tell them to go for it. How could someone think that’s healthy.
@gordonlawrence14483 жыл бұрын
Part of the issue with "MAP" is that for example when the killings went on in the UK due to the "name and shame" campaign which was made illegal, several (most according to one source) of the ringleaders were themselves shown to have exactly that type of criminal conviction (they were deflecting in effect). Also the vast majority of "MAP" people do not act on their impulses for one reason or another and the number of people with those proclivities has been demonstrated to be more than 8% of the population and estimated to be more like 12%. So the real problem is the people who are "MAP", cannot get help to be more appropriate (some can 100% change according to some research).

Ah yes, the "virtue" of not sexually abusing children. This is like the extreme version of the old Chris Rock sketch about certain men wanting praise for taking care of their children. As Chris said, "You're SUPPOSED to!" That is the minimum baseline. Not abusing children is the absolute bottom of the barrel requirement for being part of society. That's not a "virtue," it's just barely scraping past being a horrific monster. If you're a "fan of the playground," you absolutely should NOT abuse children, nor should you ever allow yourself to be around them, and you should definitely be in serious counseling, and possibly taking corrective or preventative medications. It's true there's no cure. Like schizophrenia or any other severe mental illness, you are very sick and likely dangerous to those around you. It may not be your fault, but it's not a rabid dog's fault either, yet we still don't let it roam free to harm society at large. I absolutely do not believe in punishing people for crimes they have not yet committed, but you have a duty to society to protect it from yourself if you know you are dangerous (and if you are attracted to children, you are absolutely dangerous). Normalizing "fans of the playground" is simply the next logical step in the Left's drive to reclassify mental illnesses as "normal." Every step along this path enables predators and makes society less safe.
@jasonfields27933 жыл бұрын
Very well said. If this attraction is a involuntary one than we do as a society need to acknowledge this and accept that a person is not evil for being mentally ill. And judge them by their actions seeking professional help taking medication if required and avoiding situations that are dangerous. Right! If I have a pyromania problem, and I decide NOT to burn down my local church during a ceremony, that's not virtuous. That's just refraining from committing an atrocious act.
@yulonsil41363 жыл бұрын
@@LUR1FAX But the very essence of virtue is precisely to go against your wants, to instead follow morals. It is by definition virtuous not to commit a crime, if you want to commit said crime. I'm not sure I understand the insistence that it is somehow worse to resist bad urges than having no urges at all. Do *you* want a medal for not molesting children, when you don't want to molest children? I have infinitely more respect for the people born with such an affliction, and spending every waking hour fighting to protect the children, than I do for people like you - being normal is easy. You just have to be. We have every interest in supporting these people - pedos, but also pyros like you said, and any others with reprehensible compulsions - towards good by encouraging their efforts in resisting what they know to be wrong.
@bobnix32403 жыл бұрын
@@yulonsil4136 For starters, the definition of virtue does not generally include any reference to "going against your wants." I'm open to hearing where you got that, but in any discussion of virtue I have read, your wants are irrelevant. Virtue is about demonstrating righteousness, goodness, moral excellence, and admirable qualities. Virtue boils down to doing the right thing. If virtue was simply not doing wrong, we wouldn't need a separate word for it. In some cases there can be a simple dichotomy of actions, like lying or telling the truth when pressed to answer, therefor by not telling a lie one could be said to be virtuous, but it is not the *lack of lie* that makes it a virtue, but the presence of truth. If you witness a crime, and are questioned about it, it is no virtue to simply remain silent. You may not have lied, but you also didn't tell the truth. The virtue is in truth-telling, not in simply avoiding a lie. To use the Confucian example of the child and the well, it is not virtuous to simply walk past the well without pushing the child in. It only becomes virtue when you save the child from falling in. I also don't understand your lionization of the dangerously mentally ill. For starters, we don't KNOW if people are born with that proclivity. It is suspected in some quarters, and it is as yet impossible to prove one way or another. My position was simply to say that if we can't prove otherwise, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. But even in this "best case" scenario, they are still dangerously mentally ill. Like everyone else, they are bound by the social contract not to harm their fellows. That this is a greater struggle for them than for most is reason to be wary of them, and to give extra scrutiny to them, not to celebrate that (so far) they haven't given in to their evil impulses. Just as we do not celebrate or honor those with anger management problems who restrain themselves from committing domestic abuse. As I said, they have a DUTY to seek counseling and, if necessary, to voluntarily medicate themselves in order to reduce the risk they pose. This is not virtue, this is simply them fulfilling their part of the social contract. If they did not do it, we would be justified to treat them like the equivalent of a rabid dog, perhaps not responsible for their actions, but nevertheless a danger which needs to be put down.
@Alex4620473 жыл бұрын
@YulonSil I agree with you. Virtue is something that always stands in opposition to it's opposite, vice, of which "playground" is one of the more severe manifestations. However, there are two things here. Firstly, sexual sin cannot be dealt with by confronting it. Unique in this way amongst transgressions against God, it has to be fled from, lest it consume us. Secondly, our first order of business is to protect the defenceless and vulnerable, the "pudding people". Considerations of how to help "playground jockeys" necessarily must come second in that heirarchy to ensure that no further harm is done.
@ellenhulslander28972 жыл бұрын
Decades ago I saw a special about "fans of the playground". Psychologists then, said that they had never had a patient be "cured" of their attraction to pudding people. This may come from my own biases, based on my own abuse, but this sort of “attraction” is strictly about having the upper hand. There is nothing affectionate, loving, or caring about this dynamic. It is about people that either feel sexually inadequate, or want to take their past trauma out on a child. People that say a “relationship” (for a lack of a better word) with a minor is like any other, are sick. I can tell you for a fact that a child can not give consent. They don’t understand what is happening to them. Which is why it’s probably difficult for them to express their abuse, because they initially didn’t know that what was being done to them is indeed sexual abuse. All they knew was the person they adored was giving them a lot of attention, and it felt good, because that might have been lacking in other relationships in their life. That what was happening made them feel uncomfortable, but couldn’t understand why. And, they couldn’t talk to anyone else about it, because their abuser made them feel shameful, or used fear tactics (I.e “if you tell anyone about this, you’ll get in trouble, too”), etc. Why else would psychologists call it “grooming”?

And 30 is also not old 😂 a 21 year old and 30 year old have way more in common than a 21 year old and 19 year old. Once you’re an adult and have complete freedom to go to bars, drink, smoke, whatever, you can decide for yourself. We’re trying to protect the children here, not full grown adults that can decide who they want to love. It’s “minor attracted people” not “significantly younger relative to my own age attracted people” that are the issue. My dad and stepmom are 8 years apart, nothing weird about it as long as they’re consenting adults. Now if my dad was dating someone my age (26 when he’s 50) that would be very weird to me, especially having a daughter of the same age it makes it weirder, and I see that shit all the time with middle aged parents dating someone their kids age 🤢

At the age of 12 I put my step-dad in prison for 40 years. He was an evil, horrible, sick person that deserved worse. And now I have a son I just cannot fathom anything happening to him. The only way friends of the playground should be “accepted” is to a mental health facility. There need to be more facilities that specialize in this, so we can protect kids. There is a place in Europe that does and they have options like chemical castration so people can avoid the urges and not offend. And I agree with Sydney that kids are not sufficiently protected in society. Many people don’t engage with their neighborhood/community and kids are only being watched by one parent, maybe two, so they are only being given guidance and support when their parents are around… and parents can’t alway be around.

The thing people often overlook is the massive amount of information, documentation and video being shared around the world every second of every day. @Hugh Mongous i think that another aspect of that conversation is that it's hard for many people to have without them immediately becoming defensive and fighting the conclusion of how attraction works. I can very easily imagine someone coming along and proclaiming you a p3d0 but from my view, i see that you just understand the nuance of the issue. With all this said, most people on the planet know that this disgusting perversion of minors is wrong, but i think that a large portion of the population is suggestive enough to push the bar down further, strangely. A quote that jumped out at me at 4:30 - "I think it's important to use terminology for groups that members of that group want others to use for them." Oh no. No no no. You do not get to decide how you are referred to if the terms we are using are applicable. It is one thing to ask people not to use terms that are genuinely incorrect. It is something else entirely to argue for only being called certain terms because the others make you feel uncomfortable. Your comfort is not our responsibility - especially when you are pushing an ideal that makes the overwhelming majority of people uncomfortable.

Criminals and aberrants have been abusing language this way for a very long time. The term "hacker" used to mean "someone who tinkers with stuff in order to improve it." The hacker community calls people who bypass security on other people's computers and networks for nefarious purposes "crackers." The media, on the other hand normalized the hijacking of the term hacker by these people in reference to themselves when interviewing them, rather than reaching out to the real hacker community to find out what they had to say. A professional thief may call himself a locksmith because they both can pick locks and crack safes, but the way a lot of these terms get twisted ends up making the legitimate users of the terms out to be something they are not. The goal has always been to make good look like evil and evil look like good. This is facilitated by society accepting the redefinition of terms and ideas rather than insisting that we "call a spade a spade." (::cough:: "g*y" no longer legitimate as a term for "happy") Evil calls this progress.

I can understand that you can't exactly just "decide" not to be attracted to children. However, being attracted to someone doesn't necessarily mean that you automatically cannot control yourself. That much should be obvious. Controlling the attraction should be paramount and people who fail should be blamed. Sure, it's important they can get therapy or whatever medication that helps, but in the end its up to the individual to control themselves. If they cannot do that, they're worthy of scorn. Everyone else is walking around being attracted to some people perfectly fine and they deal with it just fine. It should absolutely be stated that being attracted to minors is something worth stigmatizing, because that might at least scare some of the "potential offenders" to not go through with it.
@MoopyToopy3 жыл бұрын
"Everyone else is walking around being attracted to some people perfectly fine and they deal with it just fine." I think you're comparing pedophiles to the wrong people here to be honest. The "everyone else" you're talking about usually can just talk to others about who they're attracted to and once in a while, to put it plainly, get laid. So yeah, most of those people will deal with their attraction just fine. I believe it's more akin to homosexuality in a country which carries the death penalty for it. They walk around being attracted to others, but they can *never* express it. To do so could end their life literally (people might actually kill them if they even mention they're attracted without acting on it) or metaphorically (lose friends, job, family etc). Similarly, we also have members in our society to whom attraction is never reciprocated (think incels). More often than not, they don't "deal with it just fine" either (think the guy that went shooting other kids because he couldn't get any). Personally I think acting on your pedophilia is something worth talking death penalty over, but I'm more on the side of we need to figure out how we can help those born this way to deal with it and get through life without ever acting on it. If you are convinced that who you are attracted to is something outside your control (i.e. you're born with it) and you can't change that (e.g. you can't pray the gay away). Then this becomes a difficult topic when we're discussing non-offenders and how to deal with them fairly.

@@RL- As an attractive enough guy I've gotten lots of attention from the opposite s*x and asked out by 2 dozen girls/women over the years, and I'm straight too, I'm 36 and totally gave up adult content 7 years ago, have been on a 2+ year nofap streak and I'm a virgin still. I've just never seen s*x as a 'casual' thing and would only date to prospect for a serious relationship so not casually, I haven't dated since senior prom and was asked. Casual dating sucks for me because women tend to fall for me quickly and easily and I seldom feel the same way and hate hurting people, I have to be careful about unintentionally leading people on. I've thought before it would make sense that MAP's(only saying this because IDK what will or won't get my comment deleted) are often born like that(or it's abuse when they were young) and I've imagined how difficult it must be, like your average person imagining being a virgin for life perhaps assuming it's ALL they're attracted to. I'm an extreme outlier to say the least. Of course at the end of the day it's about how harmful committing certain actions is to others, especially kids, so it should be about protecting kids first and foremost for anyone that is caught acting on it. But I think when people say things like how they'd brutally murder MAP's or they should be put to death, it really just makes things worse. First of all, some might want to come out and get help, and that might make them afraid to actually increasing chances of it happening. And I'm sure it'd be hard for them to feel sorry for people that feel that way about people like them(I get why people do, but why openly express it publicly?), but most people don't think about things like this as far as the psychology of it. The thought of it makes me sick and acting on it shouldn't be tolerated, but currently I think it just makes things worse when MAP's are scared to death of coming out and getting help. A lot only do after they've acted on it, some might just want to do anything to prevent from acting on it while having as close to a normal life as possible. I'm sorry but your analogy just isn't the same, it's more like trying to be a virgin for life with no adult content to help you out, at least nothing you can get legally. Even monks living in an environment very conducive to that have a hard time doing what I do by choice, even though I'm attracted to women from early 20's to 40's. Most can't do it on their own. My uncle was a 'fan of the playground'. I found that out when I was five. It kept going for years. I am not a 'fan of the playground', I am a supporter of offering self erasure. That is the only reasonable response. To attack and distort the very method of continuing the species is a treason against nature. There is only one response found in nature and reality. Destruction. Immediate and without pain or fear. I remember those nights, being 'looked after', smelling rum on his breath, a 'fan of the playground' breathing in my ear. His excuses (it was the drink, it happened to him) that I never accepted still ring hollow in my mind. It happened to me, I drink, but I would self erase if I ever thought to travel that path. I have no proof, it's my word against his. I can prove he was very abusive in other ways though. He always told me I ruined his life, I'll never know why he kept me if I was such a burden. But when I moved out he claimed he was so heart broken and can't understand why I left? 👀 I knew there was a difference between being a protective father and having some weird perversion towards my body, menstrual cycles, and eventually my sex life. Please be careful with how you address your daughters when they're teens, don't damage them because you're trying to protect them. I can't say my dad was ever trying to protect me, but I got the sense that he was jealous and wanted me for himself, but he couldn't handle me growing up and becoming independent, so the harrassment and objectification got worse as I got older. I know some one who worked with these type of people as a councilor, from what I was told there is no hope in rehabilitation. Many will convince you they are doing the right thing only to go out when they think nobody is watching and break all the rules, only to lie and plead the victim when they get caught out. It really does not help when the people put in charge of the programs make little to no effort to ensure that their ‘clients’ follow the the guidelines and rules. She fought her client hanging around schools despite orders explicitly restricting him from doing so, luckily she had a suspicion and decided to follow up on it in her own time. The worst part was the ‘client’ was set to have all their conditions lifted and her boss did not seem to care that the orders were being breached, even said it was a minor incident. Luckily she insisted on action and had the incident formally noted.🤔 She said it was the most stressful job she’s had to date and it nearly caused her to have a break down. I honestly have to commend her as he would have gone missing if I found him near a school, especially given the record this guy had racked up by the age of 27.

As someone who completed a Child Protection course. The one thing I took away was when people find others who are similar to them and begin to 'normalize' something that is wrong that allows them to play their fantasies and destroys their conscience, which then graduates them to acting it out for the fantasy is no longer good enough. It makes me sick that this happening. However, you even see it in media today, for what show actually keeps innocents of children in them anymore.

I haven't taken a course but as an ex-porn addict I can relate. "Oh.. what if someone finds out I watch x genre" becomes less scary when you hear that so many people irl like drawings or girls with male parts. I didn't like that stuff, or minors, but I had some weird tastes I have put behind me. Once it is normal, there is no real fear of social backlash. In fact, people would probably defend those actions when they are criticized and see the person criticizing it as "dangerous" and "hateful".

What saved me was ironically a hentai being too realistic and "innocent", for once, like, you couldn't ignore the moral issue anymore. It resonated with my past so much too, I let the empathy kick in and dropped everything p0rn-related then and there. I won't dive into it but it was cathartic. I think most people stuck in that place need to face the cold hard truth. Actual fans of the playground trying to normalize all this have no remorse, as far as I've seen. Thank you for covering this important (albeit disturbing) topic, Sydney. Anyone who is familiar with Dr. Judith Reisman's work knows that this creepy shift toward normalizing the sexualization of children has been going on for a very long time, although it's becoming increasingly more blatant these days. This is deeply alarming to me both as a survivor of child sex abuse and as a mum. It terrifies me that society has reached such a level of depravity, and what really frustrates me is that whenever I've been vocal about it and trying to sound the alarm, most of the time people are too scared to even acknowledge or say anything about it. It doesn't help that such a massive platform like KZbin is forcing you to censor the word pedophile. Like WHAT THE BLOODY FUCK?!?!

Why can't we continue to stigmatize aberrant behavior without demonizing people? Because in our twisted post-modern reality, you are defined by your feelings, and to even disagree with someone's feelings is now considered violence by some. When Australia had the "vote" (it was a national survey, in reality) as whether or not to legitimise gay marriage, it was pointed out to me that slogans like "Love is love" and "you can't help who you love" can be just as easily applied to this topic. In my innocence, I didn't realise that these people have been poised to make this move for some time. I was researching the story about Allyn to make sure that I wasn't being taken in and discovered that people of this persuasion have been angling for acceptance for at least the past 60 years. They always use the same arguments. It was nice to hear that the student body reacted to this book and its moderately repellant author and got him removed. There is still some sanity.

If you don't think you have a future worth working towards, you don't care what you do on your way towards it, because consequences means nothing to you, plus, few care to consider long term consequences when you have a society that rubber stamps everything, or make excuses for everything with a "but it's never their fault, it's the society they live in" excuse. Now you actually get people who use that to promote their bad behavior or get away from consequences that would previously happen, but since standards are now as fluid as terminology, you get a world without consequence and a (eventual) collapse of morality as a result. I predict an increase in violent criminal activity in the next couple of years to the point of low-intensity war zones everywhere, if one considers that some cities have been rapidly descending into that state ALREADY. I'm not even talking about the regions in the world where that is an everyday state FOR DECADES. :/

Sydney you are sooo awesome! I am a victim I got raped at 3 and I can’t have babies and it still bothers me. Then at 6 years my grandfather told me that he would kill my mom and dad!!! So I had no choice! I have flashbacks I have PTSD from all of the sexual abuse. . I protected children and I have never looked at a child like that. This will never be fixed. There are too many children that are made to do it and never say anything because they are afraid. The last time I looked at the status of children. Every 9 seconds a little gets molested or raped. Every 14 seconds a boy gets molested or raped. There was so much sexual abuse with me I just can’t tell you it was awful!. You know if a molester gets their nuts cut off of whatever happens they can still molest. People think that will stop them and it’s mostly about powering the kid to do things to him. He has a mouth, he has fingers, he also has a brain to figure out what he can do to a child. I get triggered by a lot of things. Like I hate yellow flowers because my grandfather held me down with a blanket it had yellow flowers on it. I remembered the smell of that blanket and the smell of him still. I I was so scared when He was doing that!! It was a lot of power over me. He stopped when I was 12 or 13. I was getting bullied at school and I was so tired of all of this I tried to commit suicide. I wrote the note because I was alone. I got a butcher knife and laid in the bathtub. I just wanted it all to stop! I was so tired. So I wanted to stab my heart so bad if hurt to know that I couldn’t live the rest of my life just being hurt all of time. So I started stabbing my self. I got it in just a little bit. But I could see her face in my mind and it would have killed her. I couldn’t do that to the best mom. No one knew that that happened at all for years. I suffered in silence like most of did back in the day. Sometimes all of that comes back. The bullying and molestation I just didn’t want to live through it anymore. I had to though. Sorry this is a long message but I need to get my story out so it maybe will be women that need to chat to someone knows it. I will get into more of the things I want to do about this sometime. People who have their sexual urges removed do not go on to molest, there is scientific evidence of this, as well as evidence from the criminal community. They are more likely to turn to violence if sex does not work (as seen with serial killers), although chemical castration and/or removal of the testes also removes the most violent urges.

Don't ignore that society can redraw the line where it was always meant to be and keep it there, not giving way to abuse.
@doktork34063 жыл бұрын
@@33melonpaws77 Wouldn't call it a logical fallacy just yet. Gay marriage stuff was passed, the goal post moved to getting more and more types fit in that category (all those genders and stuff). Once that was normalized, the goal post moved to open grounds where everybody can identify as anything. Once that was normalized, laws were put in place where you have to use preferred pronouns and not call people anything otherwise you're facing massive fines. Call that a slippery slope fallacy or not, some years ago things were a lot more normal and based on the things that were accepted and normalized, people started tacking and tacking on. Sure society might want to redraw lines but the problem is IT CAN'T. Not when there's laws in place to protect abusers from offense. You can't redraw lines because you're offensive and you face massive fines, maybe even jail time. Call this a slippery slope whatever, but things will only escalate...more people would become protected from offense and you will not be allowed to think for fear of offending others.

As always, Sydney calls it like it is. My view is simple and uncomplicated. Society does not accept or excuse murderers, serial killers or rapists on the basis that they were born that way. Even if they were! Which I seriously doubt. When caught and convicted. They are separated from society, by incarcerating them in prisons or institutions for the criminaly insane. Why should paedophiles be any different? I'm not suggesting that people be locked up if they have not committed a crime, but if their weaknesses and predilections are being exploited by others. Then those others are responsible for the inevitable outcome, and they also have to be held accountable. LOCK THEM UP.

Interesting question: Considering that some elements of society wants to "tear all walls down", what do we do with the criminal elements of our society? What happens when it's no longer an issue of "locking the criminals up", but "locking ourselves in" to be protected from anyone walking the streets? Because that's pretty much going to be outcome of "defunding the prisons" (not that I have an issue taking the profit motive away). :/
@martincummins37313 жыл бұрын
@@sigmacademy Yeh I understand where you are coming from, however. I would say those who want to tear down society have no right to be a part of it. I believe if you commit a crime. Then the punishment should be commensurate with the crime. Give them the choice. For non violent crimes they can pay reparations to the direct or indirect victims Community or personal service. For violent crimes separate them from society and put them to work on whatever projects will benefit society, and. In some cases have them pay the ultimate reparation. IE, the death penalty. Please don't get me wrong. I do not relish the death of any human being no matter what they have done. But in the cases of treason, murder, rape or child molestation. I believe it serves no purpose to keep someone in prison for life. They have demonstrated they are beyond redemption, and even if they weren't. It is not society's responsibility to insure they get enough time to rehabilitate. On the issue of privatized prisons. These do not exist in Ireland. Nor should they exist anywhere, ever. It is the responsibility of every society to run and control the justice system. From arrest to release. No profit making entity should ever be involved. Otherwise the punishment of crime becomes a commodity. Best regards from the Emerald isle🇮🇪
