I purchased this manual from The Featherweight Shop and it's a fantastic resource! I invited my friend over a month ago and we both clean, lubed and oiled our Featherweight sewing machines. The Featherweight Shop is a wonderful on-line shop, plus they have great tutorials on KZbin.

Loved learning to sew during Covid after I found my Mother’s Featherweight in the top of a closet. I learned all about the machine and how to use/maintain it by watching videos from The Featherweight Shop. So glad you are highlighting their products!

Getting this book is one of the best purchases I ever made for my FW. It helps keep my little beauty running great. I used to be nervous doing maintenance on my machine but this makes it so easy! 😅

I love sewing on my Featherweight! It’s sews beautifully and just purrs! When I do maintenance I think of my grandfather who serviced sewing machines 100 years ago ♥️.

I discovered you a few years ago and have learned so much! I also discovered Featherweight a couple years ago when searching for info on my Singer 15-91 I had acquired from my mother-in-law! I now have 3 black ones (one with its original table) and just acquired the WHITE one at a local estate auction sale for $400 in excellent condition …one owner!! Thanks for this video, too. I call them with my issues , also!?

Thank you, Laura, for bringing this to our attention. I bought a 1946 Singer Featherweight 8 years ago that was in ok condition and soon after I was able to take Nova Montgomery's Featherweight maintenance class and I have some of her guides to help me continue to take good care of it. I have since acquired 2 more Featherweights, but haven't had the time to do any maintenance on them. This book looks like it is a must-have guide, so I plan to order it!

I have one called Molly, named after the original owner. Absolutely love this little machine. That's a nice book too. Been a while since I ordered things from the Featherweight Shop. They are a good company to deal with - and I'm in England!

Featherweights are grand machines but my li'l 1955 99K is also a gem. Luckily, all the attachments also fit my 1928 Singer 66 motorized treadle. Thanks for a great tutorial.

I have my Mom’s Featherweight she bought the year I was born. I have named her Ruth in memory of my Mom. The Featherweight shop is so great for parts, ideas, history and maintenance. Your machine is so pretty too.

Thanks very much. What a great book! Long live Elias Howe! To think he created that machine to ease the burdens of his wife... what a legacy. I think it's great that so many appreciate the importance of these early sewing machines. They changed a lot of things.

That is such a good video. I totally agree with you, I love using mine, it gives a perfect stitch and just purrs along. I think I will invest in that book. I also think I need to get some the polish to polish mine but not sure where to buy it. Since I have been doing a lot of scrap quilting lately my “little girl” has been used a lot. Thanks for sharing this information.❤❤

what exactly is a Featherweight sewing machine? Miniature only? Straight stitch only? Is it an old machine?

They are Vintage Singer-made sewing machines that are small and lightweight. (Only around 11 pounds... they are cast aluminum). They are no longer being made. I think they quit making them in the 1950's...? Maybe 60's. They are preferred by quilters partly because of the nice straight stitch it makes and partly because of ease in taking them to quilting class since they're so light. 😊

I bought a Feather Weight machine about 10 years ago from a man on EBay. I have only taken it out of it’s case once. I’m embarrassed to say I have never even plugged it in. I have no idea how well it sews or even if it does. I may have my son get it out for me.
