I just want to thank you fir all the great info you have on your videos about the CNC machine. I am new to it so you have showed me a lot. In this video about the brushes was awesome. I had 2 dewalt routers that stopped on me never thought to check the brushes. I ordered replacement of set of 6 for under $30 buck. I will do monthly cleaning of my CNC just like you showed my machine should last a life time thanks again and keep up the great videos.

Great video, makes it easier and know what to look for when conducting maintenance on the XCarve.

Very helpful. Appreciate the wheel adjustment and looks like I need that belt scale. 2.5 sounds fine by me. Couple of my wheels are not touching on the z axis ... Will need to adjust. I saw a video where the guy created two 'stop' blocks about 3 inches long. He would put 1 on the left rail at the front, then the 2nd was placed on the right rail ... Then he pulled the router carriage and center rail up to the front of the machine until it rested against the stop blocks on the left and right rails. Then, he turned on the machine, while holding a slight pressure. The goal was to square the y direction I guess. Seemed to make sense. Prob would've been easier to go find the link here on KZbin than type all this with one finger.

Yes, that should help your z axis function better.

This was fantastic--my big issue is that the X-Carve z-axis gets wobbly after about 20 hours. On a side note, it might be more cost-effective in some carves to go with a double-sided tape. Taytools has a good one that is hand-tearable.
@PawPawsWorkShop3 жыл бұрын
Good point on the double-sided tape. You must constantly check the wheels and adjust as needed. It appears that your v wheels are getting loose too often. You may need to change them.

The xcarve dust collection system works very well. My machine is spotless after every carve. Swings out of the way and only takes 5 seconds to attach it. I see many people don’t use it. Not sure why
@PawPawsWorkShop3 жыл бұрын
My main reason is so that the viewer can see the carving.

Thanks!!! This was a very helpful video for me. I have had my X-Carve about a year and have not done such a thorough check yet. Definitely need too. Love the fish scale tensioning idea. That is something I need to start doing. When you check the Z-axis perpendicularity to the X-Y plane of the waste board do you do that at multiple points?
@PawPawsWorkShop4 жыл бұрын
Doing multiple points will reveal if your waste board is not flat. Just take a straight stick and put it on the wasteboard and you can see if it not flat. I hope you will start a regular maintenance program. You will get more enjoyment out of your cnc machine.

@@PawPawsWorkShop I will start a regular maintenance plan. That's what I liked about this video. It gave me some great methods and goals.

Have you done a video on tramming the z axis?
@PawPawsWorkShop3 жыл бұрын
Not specifically as fine are fine. All you need is to add shims to adjust.

im getting a lot of feedback to stay away from the Xcarve.... could you share some reasons why that is? I mean it sounds like a really good working unit from what iv seen.
@PawPawsWorkShop3 жыл бұрын
It is a great hobby machine. Yes, some people have been successful using it in their business. Several years ago, it was one of the best deals available. Today, however, there are many great machines at the almost the same price point without the problems of the XCarve. The main problems are the belts, and the v wheels. The competition has linear bearings and screw drive for about the same price and are much stronger. The cnc4newbie is an excellent example of one those machines. Easel is free but you will have to pay to get the pro version and I will say that you will most likely outgrow Easel and will move to another software. Don't forget the internet access. I am fortunate to have internet in my shop, many people do not. I still have my XCarve and I still love it even with the extra maintenance required and use it on a regular basis. The cnc4newbie is my go to machine for 3d and larger projects. Hope this helps.

Does the X-Carve Slider no longer support a dust boot?
@PawPawsWorkShop3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know it will still support the inventables dust boot. I'm not aware of a design change.

Hi is it easy to replace usb cable on xcarve ?
@PawPawsWorkShop2 жыл бұрын
If you are referring to the cable that plugs into your computer then yes it is very easy. The cable simply plugs in on the front of the controller and then into the computer.

Your z axis doesn’t look original. Is it an upgrade? If so, why was it needed.
@PawPawsWorkShop4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is an upgrade. It is a z axis from CNC4newbie.com. I did the upgrade because I constantly had chattering. With this upgrade that was eliminated.
