I saw a video just now on Korean archery. And I thought I'd share this here, as I find it very interesting. The 4 principles of Korean archery, in short, and paraftazed: First, to account for wind and terrain Second, to push the bow as if pushing a mountain Third, to pull the string as if pulling on a tiger's tail Fourth, to look on your own mistakes, rather than external reasons. I love it 😁

They seem built like modern sports equipment in a way... I have their cheapest bow and it is one of the best-feeling bows I have tried (not many, a few fiberglass bows, a few laminated bows). Still, way cheaper than the laminated bows I have tried, but nicer draw and much nicer "spring more than shock" upon release. And, with my 60 lbs Phoenix, I can use the same weight arrows as my 50 lbs laminated bow's minimum gpp, no problem, just incredible speed!

Mine broke today. I read stories from a few people that the Majesty cant handle weights 60lb plus, due to its 3 carbon layers. I thought maybe these people were pulling it too far (advertised 34") so I was careful and kept it to about 32". Still snapped after not much use.

The Monarq seemed to be the best shooter, “right out of the box”, “no learning curve”, “where you point the arrow goes”. At 197 fps I believe it was as fast or faster with the high modulus carbon layer. At only $250 on Amazon and $230 on eBay (blazearrows-seller) both with free shipping; this really calls for a comparison to see if the new version is worth the additional $100 cost. Cheers

Pulling 45 pounds require a lot of strength. How come in middle ages the archers were able to pull around 100 pounds? That's insanely impossible...

they simply started in the age of 7 or 8 to train for heavy bows... I missed that chance :D

@@ArminHirmer But why can't it be redeemed in later age? Does our muscles become impervious to moulding in a certain way, after some time? I wish I too had begun when I was 7🙄
@paulgee61113 жыл бұрын
I started a year ago and 30lbs felt plenty heavy enough. Practicing regularly I'm now pulling 60lbs with ease. I'm sure that with another year or two I'll be close to 100lbs. I'm 57 and the only difference I've found with strength training from when I was younger is one has to be a little more patient, take it steady and avoid injury through "overdoing it". The key is "little and often" and always stop when one feels one's body has had enough. Also before I started I had had a persistent shoulder problem which resulted in pain and restricted movement. Since taking up archery the pain has cleared up and I now have full range of movement in my shoulder so archery can help healing if practiced with care.
@paulgee61113 жыл бұрын
By the way, if you think it impossible, try watching Joe Gibbs' videos on YT where he draws bows in excess of 200lbs! 😁
@Eiketsu893 жыл бұрын
@@smithlouisnk9913 Anything is possible with proper training and commitment. Keep in mind that in the middle ages it was basically a necessity to be able to draw such high poundage in order to serve in the military or for just basic survival. Nowadays, we go to war with advanced technology (e.g. guns, etc.), not bows and arrows.
