I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is not considered a swing state for the 2024 election but the Republicans who control the state have made voting much more difficult in the past 3 years. In Hamilton County Ohio there is only one location for early voting and it has limited hours. Worse than that they are using a congressional map that is badly Gerrymandered and was rejected by the Ohio Supreme Court but they are using it anyway. Democrats would control the U.S. Congress right now if it weren't for Gerrymandering.

With the appointment of Mr DeJoy as head of USPS, he has done many things which make no sense if the objective is timely delivery of our mail. For example, he removed a large mail processing facility here in Tucson, so now our mail must be shipped up to Phoenix for sorting, then shipped back to Tucson, causing delays. I believe the delays are part of an attempt to interfere with mail-in voting. Arizona has had vote by mail for three decades, and it was never an issue until the 2020 election. Republicans managed to win most of the elections during those 3 decades. It wasn’t until Trump himself targeted vote by mail that it became favored by Democrats but not Republicans! Anyway, DeJoy now wants to move a mail processing facility from Reno, NV to Sacramento, CA. At the same time, the RNC is suing Nevada over counting mail-in ballots past midnight on Election Day. They want to ensure that any ballots not received before Election Day be excluded, even if they were postmarked before the deadline. So if the post office slow-walks processing of ballots (which are mailed in distinctive envelopes) and people’s ballots are delivered late, those voters become disenfranchised if this lawsuit is successful.

I thought he was to be replaced , how is he still there , remember the president saying there was some technical issue that was to be sorted out , so his replacement could be done , looks like it got lost , he is going to plan another sabotaging near to the election?

Dejoy must be removed from office before the election period. He is destroying the usps more and more everyday he is in charge. More and more carriers are retiring because of his stupidity. End Dejoys rein of terrorism on the postal service.
@WJV97 ай бұрын
DeJoy is a Trump appointee who was placed in the job to make the Post Office fail and encourage congress to 'Privatize' the postal service. He and his supporters closed important postal sorting centers and sold expensive postal sorting equipment for scrap just to make our postal system less efficient. He claimed to be trying to reduce costs but I would guess that shipping mail back/forth to a few sorting centers will end up costing more and taking letters longer to reach their destination. I think frustrating postal customers is the point, just as MAGA loves to talk about government being the problem, they purposely cripple government programs and they point out how badly the programs are working so they can defund and eliminate the programs altogether. Shrink government is the goal and making government work poorly is how they plan to achieve that goal.
@kevindonovan1213 ай бұрын
DeJoy was also principal owner of DHL Delivery which is why he stood to benefit from slower snail mail. He tried to bankrupt the USPS by forcing them to fund the pension plan for 75 years as well.

I'm so glad that we in the UK do not have a much hassle in our country as you Americans have when it comes to voting. It's is a walk in the park for us to vote.
@TheRealcdawg227 ай бұрын
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the UK consists of only 4 countries (equivalent to what we would call states). The size of the UK is not much larger than a single average sized state in the US and we have 50 of them. Those extreme physical differences along with the fact that the US is the oldest democracy causes our flaws to be exacerbated. There are additional problems, but those that I mentioned are inescapable. Plus we have 5 times as many people as you do.

Walk in the park because UK ballots are short, often only Member of Parliament or local council. US votes on a variety of things other than President, member of Congress or Senator. It would be better for the voter's legislation to make one universal rules/laws applying to all states, nullifying inequality, preventing continues changing applications by any political party wanting to gain unfair advantages.
@TheRealcdawg227 ай бұрын
I agree with you, but the elections are run by the states. Furthermore, the elections for local, citywide, county, and state offices, along with public referendum, and special elections are far more frequent than national elections are. So, there are a lot of legitimate arguments against making those changes, unfortunately.
@Muppetias7 ай бұрын
@@TheRealcdawg22 I'm aware of that, so for starters people, who wish to make an effort for equality, who are organising these elections in all states should organise themselves, first to note/describe/number the current procedures. Second find out what the most effective way is for any state, local, city, any election. Categories or name/number these different procedures as well, so they can determine the state differences and what local state politicians should change in their local state laws. Might be an (revolutionary) idea to use Digital ID authentication and a personal voting platform for voting safely through internet but with the option to revoke your own vote. For people without computer capabilities the usual paper voting (mail/ballot box) should be made available.
