The save act is not common sense. It is intentional voter suppression. Looking at it, it would make me have difficulty registering to vote, as a child of military parents who happened to be stationed on a USA base outside the USA when I was born. My type of birth certificate is not accepted as valid. Requiring a passport is a huge burden when passports are being refused to be issued to people right now, and with how expensive they are compared to state ID cards. Tribal ID cards also don't work in most cases, so this is going to affect Alaska natives and other native tribes. Barriers to vote are generally a bad idea, with how little occurrence of improper voting has actually been proven. Save act is a return to Jim crow days. If anything, we should have higher standards for who can be elected to office. People running for such, or being nominated to positions like supreme court or the presidential cabinet should have to pass the naturalization exam to show they understand the rights and responsibilities as citizens, and the responsibilities and limits on each branch of government, including the responsibility to be a proper check and balance on the others. Nobody is keeping Trump and Elon in check right now. The president shouldn't be able to just fire people in charge of being a limit on him, like some cabinet members are. Also, office should require a literacy test, in whatever language of choice the official wants, as we have no official national language and ostensibly the government can operate in whatever language is needed. We need to prove our officials can understand written materials and charts. Facts seem to be foreign to certain members of government.
