Jess, massive congratulations on passing your HGV test!! Well done!! Jon has a point about driving tests. I am planning on getting my 2nd class towing licence here in Japan and there are two ways of doing it. Taking a test or as Jon suggested, a 12 ~ 14 hour course at a driving school. Now, the test only will allow me to tow anything that is more than 750kg and less than 2 tonnes, but it is more than enough for most caravans. However, the course is done in a smallish articulated lorry. So, Jess, you have inspired me to do it. Thank you!! To tow more here, you need to get the class 1 licence which is full on articulated lorry HGV stuff and it is seriously expensive! The DVLA should take up Jon's suggestion as it is used by even over regulated, super nanny-state Japan.

General remark for ppl with lithium batteries: One thing to also note is not to overheat the alternator when charging at high/max current at idle. Won't be a problem when its very cold but if it's warm/hot you could fry the alternator. Usually not a problem when driving because it will be cooled by driving air. Look at the specs of the alternator to stay on the safe side. You are probably safe because yours is rated at 220A and your max current is 100A.

Winter has arrived here in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It is a glorious 6F as I type this at 5:30am. No snow yet, well at least no snow that’s sticking around. I know Canada is a different story. However some preliminary weather forecasts for the year are saying that where I live in Wisconsin, we won’t see much snow, but will just have lots of bitter cold temperatures. Thanks polar vortex. If they’re not on your Amazon shopping list yet, getting some disposable hand warmers you can put in your mittens/gloves might be a good idea. I also love the USB rechargeable Ocoopa hand warmers. I am so excited for your North American winter tour.

Hi from Canada. Was so elated to hear your coming to Canada. But I have to say that your absolutely crazy to be coming in the middle of winter. And then to go further north, well no words for that. Its not the same as your trip north on your side because of the ocean currents. There is a reason they celebrate Yukon days in February it's because they survived the brutal winter, cause after February the temps don't generally go below -60. Yeah -60 is not a picnic, not even fun for a minute. Plus its absolutely dark, no sunshine at all. There are no animals to see all the bears have gone to sleep. And a lot of others have moved further south. Even they no not to stick around. I won't tell you about driving across the prairie during winter let alone coming over our Rocky Mountains, they are so gorgeous but highways often closed for avalanches and snow storms. Canada is very beautiful but so much more fun when winter has gone. So wish you would come around February so you can see the magnificent beauty we have and also enjoy winter that you seem to love. Either way i truly hope you reconsider coming later than you plan. Love your channel and really hope you come to BC its the best of Canada imo.

Just a quick note on the new drying rack, the cable attachment on the wall portion. the Lug is mounted at 90° to the load direction when in the drying position,. When heavy wet clothes are applied, this will cause the lug to bend outwards, possibly weakening it after a few uses. it will be more longer lasting if you mount it to the upright side walls, so the load is applied in a linear direction to the lug.

Great video as always guys. Jess, You absolutely need the riving knife and guard fitted to the table saw. The riving knife stops the wood pinching and jamming on the blade and then being kicked back at you at high velocity The guard speaks for itself and should be set at no more than a couple of mm above the wood so pinkies can't get past and become reddies! Good to see a push stick! Keep up the good work!

Well done Jess on passing the Cat C driving license, Sounds very different to when I did my Class 2 and Class 1, No longer have them on my license now as I had them taken off when I was 45, as I hadn't driven Class 1 for 11 years, so didn't see the point in having the Medical just to keep it on there. I just need to take a Medical if I ever wanted them adding back one and then doing the CPC thing that was voluntary when I was driving. Take a Look at Reeds Chilleaters Transpire thermals, they are brilliant. I use them when Kayaking as they are wicking and not as smelly as wool can get. They wash really well too, and come in two different thicknesses. So the Double ones would be perfect for where you are going.

A really good idea for wool is to alternate use it over the days - even socks - eg have sets for Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Friday etc. in the day(s) in between, air it out. Aside from actual underpants (yes, even including socks!), because the wool itself is naturally antibacterial, almost all garments last longer between washes. I’ve also found that the antibacterial clothes sprays (eg by dettox or fabulosa) can help extend the wear between washes as well, but it’s possible to make your own - a lot of costumers need this for their garments like velvet and wool that can’t be washed or dry cleaned a lot to help deal with this (theatrical companies for example) so this is all worth looking into. The winter of 2009-10, my sister loved the set of kids’ merino underwear I got my nephew which he wore as PJs and she discovered that a) they kept him warmer than others and b) she didn’t need to wash them as often. She wasn’t a fan at first lol. Sadly, we couldn’t get them again, but Howies make really fantastic merino base layers, even if pricy. I’ve now had mine for 15 years! Well done on the HGV test!

Congratulations, Jess! Another great video, guys😊. You got a lot done, and as always, you thought outside the box in creative problem solving. It was a really good idea to add another 200 amp battery. What a difference that'll make. Have a great week! ❤Lauren❤

Thanks Lauren, yeah will hopefully give us confidence if anything goes wrong anyway 💙💙

When using the wheel table put a little note on the steering wheel so yer don't drive off with it still attached. A 100 amp charge to the lithium, assuming the battery is 200 amp will take longer than 2 hours probably 2 1/2 hours as the last bit of charge takes much longer than yer think. However it's much quicker to charge than lead acid or AGM. I would try to avoid going past 80% and not letting it fall under 20%, the battery will last much longer.
@truebluetravellersАй бұрын
😂😂 Good idea, definitely the kind of thing I’m liable to do. Yes you’re right, it’s not exactly 1 hr = 100amps but easiest way to explain it. It’s pretty technical isn’t but just wanted to give an overview really 💙

Many years ago, when teachers had time off to go to the pub and take driving tests, my wife took her test in the morning and met staff members in the pub. The blokes were ready to coomiserate with her failing first time round only she passed. It turned out that most of them took at least two tries!

Well done Jess. Can’t wait for the Iveco build. Almost the next couple of years already planned as we need a big red trip too.. love the videos guys. For the drying u could have used one of those hotel bathroom string ones across the van somewhere high.

Congrats. When I was 18 I did the top notch license. Can drive oversized load and anything else but the space shuttle. Served me well over the years. Never made a career out of it though.

Great job on the video folks! Thanks for making it. I'm excited for your North America trip. Can't wait to see your reactions to some of the places that I've loved here in the States. I'd imagine you're headed to the Grand Canyon just because you kinda gotta, but be sure to also check out Bryce Canyon, Joshua Tree, Redwood National Forest, etc.
