Knock off the Autism shit. I know it's now a synonym for "r3t4r3d" these days, or "Psychopath". There is nothing woth joking about when kids freeze up and shut down because some gronk can't be bothered to turn off their fire alarm upstairs. It's not fun to be misinterpreted or to misinterpret everyone because we cannot understand the nuance of language. We are not Sheldon Coopers, we're not all science geniuses who geek comic books and scifi. And it's hard to be a braniac doctor when everytime a code blue goes off, again, your neurological whacked out parasympathic nervous system turns up to 150% We don't shoot up schools, and we are statistically more likely to be the victims of abuse and violence, then the perpetrators..,, Knock off the Autism shit.

The reasons I love the Iron Hands more then any other chapter is because of how human they are. They were, betrayed, lost their dad, got depressed, and started cutting themselves. An entirely human response to trauma. They show that no matter how much you try to engineer the humanity out of a person. Pieces of it still shine through. The desire to not fail your family and ultimately yourself is a core piece of what we are.

Cutting yourself is a pretty f*cked up reaction to trauma in normal humans too, and it’d be a pretty big stretch to try and compare the two actions. It’d be better to compare it to someone who works out to the point they’re actually damaging their body.

@@mcarrowtime7095 The point of the Space Marines is that they take things to the most extreme. If cutting is a, human response, removing a limb is a Space Marines. Remember the 1st thing every new Iron Hand member does when ascending to the full rank of battle brother is remove their perfectly fine right hand. That's not working themselves too hard, that's physical mutilation to temper the spirit. Its like the Salamanders burning themselves. Only its motivated by shame. Not pride.

I actually made an Iron Hands successor chapter that broke off from the Iron boys because they began to question the beliefs of the chapter and got involved in a civil war with the chapter. After the war, they and the Sons of Medusa chapter were then made independent chapters from the Iron hands. My fan chapter is called the Storm Heralds, paying homage to the origins of the 10th legion. They believe that while the flesh is weak, the spirit of the warrior isn’t. Those who rely on augmentation solely are weak in body and soul, while those who manage to succeed without augmentation are truly strong, as are those who have been forced to become augmented because of injury(prosthetics and dreadnoughs) because they use the technology to allow them to continue fighting and fulfill their duty.

Unfortunately Majorkill, you are incorrect. The Iron Hands had the largest contingent of Shattered Legions, not because they were the toughest, but because the majority were not at Isstvan. When Fulgrim attempted to turn Ferrus, and failed, the Emperor's Children opened fire and crippled the Iron Hands fleet. Receiving the order to proceed to Isstvan, Ferrus took one clan-company and the fastest, most intact ships. Warned that he was ordered to rendezvous with his entire legion, Ferrus replied that he would not show up late, the rest would have to catch up as they could. Many Iron Hands would show up during the massacre, and be lost in orbit, but many more would escape or be warned off. The Iron Hands were done an immense disservice by the decision to start the Heresy series at Isstvan. If Black Library had spent more time on the Great Crusade, we could have seen more of what makes each legion great

This is a good point to bring up. Many Iron Hands were not on Istvaan however that doesn't take away from their tenacity. No Iron Hand should have gotten off Istvaan considering their position and loss of their Primarch, yet many still did, more than the Salamanders. Nykona Sharrowkyn only survived because he got dragged to a gunship by an Iron Hand, with even some of Ferrus's honour Guard making it off world

Since primaris are around now it would be cool to see how they integrate (there probably already is some stuff out there)

And we appreciate you, Raven Guard. The tactical advice of the Raven Guard saw many a successful Shattered Legions raid on numerous Traitor Legion supply depots, recruitment worlds, shipyards and foundries, as well as multiple ambushes on isolated traitor legion battlegroups in the void. If it weren’t for you guys being so damn insistent, despite the Iron Fathers trying to shoot your points down at every opportunity, we’d all have been in a world of shit. I mean, we were. This is the heresy we’re talking about. But the Iron Hands supplied the will, the numbers and the gear. The Salamanders bolstered that. But the Raven Guard were the best shot-callers we could’ve possibly had in our corner for the situation.

I have an Iron Hands successor chapter that I've built and love. It's a mix of mostly Iron Hands and a good amount of White Scars. The way I thought about it in my head was that the two forces met as warbands and then formed one big warband after, that would eventually become a successor chapter. Not getting along at first, but the joyful nature of the White Scars eventually winning over the hearts of the Hands and turning them into the chapter they should have been with Ferrus. On the other side, the White Scars would get dope af upgrades to their bikes and vehicles in return. I'd love to show them to anybody that wants. Not sure where to do that though.

I’ve been shadowing the iron hands for a long while, but after learning more about them and Ferrus manus, they have became one of my favorite first founding chapters and Ferrus manus probably being my top 3rd favorite primarch. He was highly respected by his brothers due to his traits of being a warlord, a tactician, strategist, smith and just one hell of a fighter. Both of his fights with Fulgrim were closer than people realize. He lost the first one because Fulgrim recovered faster from the explosion of Fireblade, leaving Fulgrim to knock him out while he was prone. The second was in his favor and would’ve killed Fulgrim if the laer blade didn’t respond on its own and took his head. If Ferrus would’ve survived, he either would’ve died an honorable death later, but his sons would’ve honored his teachings, or would’ve played a major role into leading humanity to a better future. It’s such a shame that he had to die the way he did at such an early time. Him and the iron hands deserved better and would love to see his return.

Here are some for consideration: What if every Astartes Legion staged a coup on the Emperor and took over the Imperium? How would they rule it and how successful would it be, compared to the canon Imperium? What if 2 Primarchs held the Warmaster position cooperatively, under the assumption that those who would take issue at one Warmaster would respect the other one more and they could thus overall be more productive? Which nonhuman species would be the best fit for Chaos to take over and attain galactic dominance? If any one Loyalist and Traitor Primarch switched sides for the Horus Heresy, who would you choose for the best outcome for either the Loyalists, or the Traitors? What if the Silent King never got rid of his Command Protocols and took (almost) all the Necrons with him out of the galaxy to perhaps find a new and better one and come across the Tyranids? What if the Great Crusade had all the Primarchs and none turned Traitor, but there were no Astartes? What if the Beast Orks succeeded in defeating the Imperium? What if the Raptor Project succeeded/was never sabotaged? How would each Heresy/Crusade-era Primarch and Legion fare against the modern Tau Empire? What if one of the Primarchs landed on a xenos world and was raised by them? What if the Eldar managed to kill Angron before he was enslaved? What if another power rose to power during M31 instead of the Imperium, such as the Ullanor Orks, the Rangdan, or the Necrons via the Silent King returning early? What if the Beast Orks grew to threaten the Imperium before the Heresy could happen? What if the Tyranids arrived in M31, before the Heresy could happen?

I think they’re still trying to figure out whether or not to make him an Iron Father/Techmarine style with servo arms over standard armor, or kit him out in the Terminator armor he often wears in denser fighting, like he did in the audio drama The Calculus of Battle, when he deployed his squad to try and cover the evacuation of civilians and guardsman from a world overrun by Tyranids.

A topic for a video idea - who or what has the emporer been through the ages of man? For instance, we know there are hints that he was Alexander the Great, he was certainly an Argonaut, possibly Gilgamesh etc. I think exploring the emporers actions through history and how that relates to our reality is exciting. I like the idea of tying in real world legends and myths into the 40k universe and, in fact, find it an endearing part of the franchise. It is something I wish more lore tubers would dive into.

What if the Iron Fathers encountered a Man of Iron? They might see it as the ultimate goal of what they want to be ... a living machine of humanity. And the Man of Iron might think that they could be manipulated and therefore useful. Or at least not immediately homicidal towards an Ai. Who knows, prehaps one of the Iron Fathers is secretly a Man of Iron, hiding in plain sight.

I've been slowly getting into Warhammer 40k for the last couple of months, and Space Marines 2 felt like the perfect opportunity to learn the lore and get into while the hype and content was high. Ive alway thought Tech Priests were cool as fuck and decided I wanted to choose a chapter with a close relationship to them. And who better than the Iron Hands. It is a bummer that they are so mistreated, lore wise, but I won't give up on them. Also IDK if im just lucky but I also absolutely love the Knights of Byzantium sub chapter and those guys have no lore what so ever. Hopefully, one day, all will be well, but much like the Iron Council, I'll have to wait and calculate the triumphant return of our beloved chapter

New heresy idea: Iron hands go rogue following a re-emerged man of iron impersonating Ferrus

Not a seperate Successor chapter, but i run my Hands more tempered, refraining from unneccesary augmentation, only using them as prosthetics after grave injuries to adapt. Basically a branch of Clan Raukaan that took Feiross' teachings to heart. Instead of removing their hands, they have gone back to Painting their gauntlets silver, honoring Ferrus in a more healthy way.

GW needs to give Iron Hands some love. Relaunch the chapter with a silver primary color, and a bright bold secondary like orange, red, or purple. Say the new colors represent revenge for Manus. Then, have the chapter master wear a suped up warsuit. Make him both peak man and peak machine.

To be honest, I wholeheartedly disagree with the color scheme thing. Part of the Iron Hands’ whole aesthetic is Function over Form. They don’t try to catch the eye or summon the gaze with something bright and flashy. And Kardan Stronos already commonly goes to war in terminator armor. And that is to say, Terminator armor that’s spent a considerable amount of time in the employ of the IRON HANDS. They modify and upgrade their stuff like crazy. Suping up motive systems, adding extra layers of fiber bundle muscles and armor plating, integrating special sensors and targeting systems with particularly vicious machine spirits into their armor and bodies. Hell, in the case of Gorgon Terminator armor, the suit possesses a conversion field generator that transforms incoming hits into flashes of blinding light. Yeah. That’s right. Taking a shot at a Gorgon Terminator accomplishes about as much as the shooter taking the PEQ-15 off his rifle and shining it directly into his eyes for a solid hour.

The flesh is weak, but deeds endure. I was not expecting the Iron Hands vote to win!!! I’m glad it did tho cause yeah they don’t get a lot of love. As an Iron Hands enjoyer I like them because there are still human elements fighting for the ideals of the Primarch and for the good of the legion. I one day hope to see lore about the redemption of the Iron Hands.

An Iron Hands update would be so sick. Helfather terminators, generic Iron Father model (terminator and normal would be cool) and Revenants. The Keys of Hel is the perfect excuse to give the Iron Hands a ton of new stuff

I mean, it’d basically just be an Iron Father with Medusan Immortals backing them up. The Immortals were essentially the suicide squads of the legion, stripped of all rank, insignia and clan affiliation as punishment for one misdeed or another. Basically as close as it gets to a penal company, and sent into situations where the Iron Fathers knew that a space marine’s ability was required, but it was almost certain that the marine would die in the process. It was common for the mad Iron Fathers, those who turned the Keys of Hel, to fill the ranks of their Revenants with Medusan Immortals who fell in battle. No one would mourn or miss them beyond the removal of their geneseed, and so many Astartes went MIA after Istvaan V that an Iron Father, like Kastigan Ullok for example, could pluck a squad here, a squad there, from deserted battlefields, and then turn the Keys of Hel to have a formidable fighting force again.

Rewatching this video after learning the lore moment where Ferrus has some Warp shenanigans and comes across a dead Iron Hand from the current setting. He is disgusted by the amount of augments and cybernetics that his son had and told the Magos with him (who told him this was likely a dead warrior from another time period) that as long as he lived he would not allow his Legion to become that (which ended up being the case)

I know this kinda goes against the video, but I'd like it more if the Iron Hands had their own Bjorn, the Fell handed, or even just "special Dreadnought", like how the Blood Angels used to deserve a Librarian Dreadnought no one else could field, despite other Chapters having better psykers. Imagine a cool, ancient Contemptor, or Venerable, who remembers Ferrus, and laments the direction his brothers have taken. I've never totally understood the deal behind the Flesh is Weak. I get that they think it, but a lot of work goes into making a mortal into an Astartes, just to then start lopping off whole quantities of that enhanced flesh, just to replace it with average tech. I'm sure they're not bad at augmetics, but they aren't the Salamanders, or Vostroyana, with artisan tech, or the Dark Angels, with hoarded DAoT specimens. Not to crap on the Raven Guard, and their use of the Raptor Project, bur I almost wish that that lore had gone to the Iron Hands, in such a hurry to recoup their numbers that they would just sweep up aspirants, and instead of slowly sculpting them into Astartes, just "upgrade" them into Servitors who can still reason, and even net a unique unit type, with Chapter serfs who are practically Astartes, but without the gene-seed.
