Your videos helped me and inspired me so much when I got my first RA job (kind of by chance lol when I was applying to all openings in pharma when my grad internship was coming to end) and was totally lost back in 2021. I'm so glad I ended up in RA, such a good career path.

We dont typically do entry level in BD. We may take 1 person to do operations or project management for BD team but BD needs pharma/biotech experienced people so that we can negotiate superb, airtight deals!
@jacqueline856613 күн бұрын
By experience i mean a Masters or PhD with few years work experience atleast, which can be in other pharma functions like commercial, investment banking, equity research, program management, alliance management
@kyyahabdul13 күн бұрын
I do see entry level BD roles a lot at consulting companies that specialize in Regualotry (strategy/CMC) or advisory services like (AdComm) prep. It totally could be shifting and I wouldn’t doubt that. BD at a biotech or pharma I totally agree is competitive bc you do need to know the industry and knowing the science is even better

Any recommendation for a clinical Pharmacist looking to transition into Pharma? I am interested in Regulatory affairs. Worked in critical care and emergency.

I enjoy your videos. They are packed full of useful and current information. Can you please do a video about career paths in biotech/cr for experienced CRAs that do not have a science degree?
@kyyahabdul16 күн бұрын
If you have experience as a CRA the science degree piece no longer matters! You have the experience already which is the number 1 thing employers care about. At this point it’ll be about you finding the right mentor in industry to help you cross over to another function if you don’t want to be a CRA anymore. If you aren’t sure which function you want to go into I would recommend a tour of duty which is basically just shadowing other departments with the spare time you have and helping them with assignments they are overwhelmed with
@sade942516 күн бұрын
@ a tour of duty is a great recommendation, however I was laid off and it has been challenging landing a new position. I’ve been applying for a variety of roles within CR. My mentor in the previous CRO I worked for explained that there is a hiring freeze and another massive layoff in the pipeline. I assume CROs and pharma companies recognized how much money was generated during the pandemic so they are waiting for the next “pandemic” to bolster the workforce again. That’s just an assumption, I really am not sure as I’ve never been so challenged finding another position as a CRA. I was burnout from the intense travel and would prefer a role that allows me to work remotely, but I feel that not having a science degree maybe a limiting factor. Therefore, to get my foot back into biotech I am willing to work as a CRA again. I am looking into investing in an AI and machine learning course in thoughts to be better aligned with how AI will be incorporated in biotech. With that being said, that was why I asked about your thoughts about not having a science degree with experience as a CRA and other positions that you think would be good to transition into.

I thought you used to do paid coffee chats. Is that something you still do? I'm really trying to leave my side of clinical research to pivot into biotech

Same! But don’t worry, network! If you do decide to get another degree, you can utilize your background! Some of my friends are getting a second bachelors but I don’t know if I am in a place to do that right now. I’m going to see how far I can go before deciding to get a higher degree, rather than the same level

Look into Clinical Trial Manager roles! Thats in the office. You can start there and go up all the way to clinical operations lead where you managing other CTMS. the CTMS are the ones who oversee the CRAs just on the Sponsor side

What type of roles in the Biotech industry can someone with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science: Public Health obtain?
@mariamabass670116 күн бұрын
Not directly within biotech, but you can start in the clinical research field then pivot. A lot of people start their just to start getting some real-world experience that is at least adjacent to biotech. Entry level role is Clinical Research Assistant in a clinic, hospital, etc., then go up to a Clinical Research Coordinator. Some places maybe even be willing to hire someone to start at a CRC level. Lot's of room for growth, and many ways to take the experience and pivot to what you really want. Their also many different fields of it that you can choose, like oncology, psychiatry, regulatory affairs, study-start up, etc. For example, I got my experience and plan to pivot to biotech after I go to grad school. Former coworker did 6 months as an RA + 6 months as a CRC, and now just left to get some experience at a CRO. Then I think she's gonna pivot to biotech too after some time in the CRA role.
