How to know whether to use Sampler, Painter or Designer for such things?

Sampler was invented with the idea of being simple to learn. Designer is deep with nodes but seem to be more customizable. Painter is the program you use to texture your model. It has preset materials you can already use and tweak in painter.

@@BestMods168 Alright, thanks for the precisions. But such a material could totally be done in Painter for example right? Is it simply a matter of ease of use and habit?

@@aizen_rhyme_schemes This kind of material can only be achieved in Substance Designer, since it has the parameters to build procedural and customizable forms. Painter is for texturing only

Universal answer for "How to know whether to use" is "client don't care as much its fast and provide desired results" :) Daniel not true (at least 100%) because you could paint such seamfree material with decals, smart materials and such, even better, with painter you get complete control over each single element. That the thing and answer for Aizen, "depends" Sampler is quick, Desi is powerful, Painter is precise and fast but not offer global quick changes that you get with nodes.

Not only are for a while now you focusing on tutorials of such basic super easy materials that anyone can guess how to create on their own, but you are also very keen to demonstrate how the new Sampler workflow and UI is inferior to the original one. Where is the amazing Preset function that would help you generate different versions of a material fast, without having to save? Something that would allow users to experiment safely and quickly. You could at least introduce the native Adobe function. Snapshots. But no. Thankfully you kept some of the basic functionality of Alchemist/Sampler there but whoever gave this new direction for the tool, lacked vision and UX skills.

You should know by now. First greedy people at the top mess up everything for their users. Then they start to lose a lot of money. Then they pretend to be caring about the customers until they get enough market share. Then rinse and repeat. I like how easy it is to create new materials vs designer, but not going to pay subscription. I rather pay a huge chunk of money for perpetual.

@@BestMods168 The subscription is totally worth it. (as a fallback I have the old perpetual which is still great) I am not talking about that though. I am talking about the lousy tutorials, and the ruination of the Sampler UX.

The Tiling is broken. Sampler creates visible seams. Is a bug fix available?

Add a layer called "make it tile" on top. It will make your texture tilable.
