We r sinners, against God. We could not please Him, we could not fulfill His law, hence we were condemned to death. But God loves us so much that He sent His One and only Son to come to Earth, live a perfect life to later suffer and die on a cross. By doing so, Jesus Christ, payed off the debt which He didn't owe. He freely payed our debt, and fulfilled all righteousness Hence when we believe in Him and accept Him as Lord and saviour & repent from our wicked ways, God forgives us faithfully and the gift of the Spirit of Christ relates us intimately with God For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

I've been meaning to try my hand at a fiberglass project at some point... A Captain America shield seems like the perfect place to start :) Thanks for the tutorial! Can't seem to find a round satellite dish under $70 though :(
@BrainfooTV8 жыл бұрын
+ShinyFearghus You will love it, it's great fun, and you end up with a full size shield too if you want it. I waited on ebay to find one that was near and not new, it was a bit of a faff but I got lucky in under 2 weeks. I've done some digging around on the internet and I have found the exact model I used, but brand new, and I have posted that link on the website page : www.brainfoo.com/projects/how-to-make-a-captain-america-shield/ but that's a UK link I'm afraid. I dont think you will get a truly round satellite dish, the closest I got was 84x85cm. Have you tried dish installers and aerial fitters or a scrap yard? What I will do from now on is every time someone finds a make or model of dish that works in their country, I'll post a link on the website to help out, that way the people making the shields can build their own support rather than having to dig through the comments here on KZbin. Let me know if you find something, and if you have a link to help others I will post it on the website.
@Fearghus8 жыл бұрын
+BrainfooTV Oh I would definitely want the shield, haha. I'm a big Cap fan and have wanted a nice replica for a long time. Good ones sell for such high prices though. And while fibreglass isn't entirely cheap in itself... It's a heck of a lot cheaper than people sell shields for. Plus it gives me a nice fun project to work on :) Wow, you got one pretty darn close to perfect there. The closest ones I find are about 3-4 cm off, but that's still pretty good. At least to my eyes. I'll have to definitely keep an eye out for some time. There aren't many junkyards nearby, but I'll definitely keep an eye out on local selling sites. It's a bit painfull to see ebay.co.uk having really cheap options (around $10 like you showed, some even less), but for pick up only, haha. I've found some that are new (though much smaller than yours) for around $50 now. I may just give it a month or two of searching, and just go for that if I'm not lucky. For a reusable shield mold, I can justify that. Thank you! If I find a local dish that is on the cheaper side and close to perfect in dimensions, I'll let you know! :)
@BrainfooTV8 жыл бұрын
+ShinyFearghus Yeah, I dont think you would notice it being 3-4 cm off round and you cut it round anyhow when the fibreglass is dry. It makes a change for ebay UK to have something cheaper than ebay.com, it comes down to luck at the end of the day I suppose. Mind you I was looking for a round satellite dish before some idiot recommend using them as a mould for shields ;-) Good luck, enjoy your project. the end result is worth the effort.
@Fearghus8 жыл бұрын
+BrainfooTV Thank you, I look forward to making it :) Just out of curiousity. .Do you happen to know of any easy way one could add the grooves that separate the colours and star during the fibreglass process? Something that could be added to the mold? Or do you think something like that would need to be done after the glass dries?
@BrainfooTV8 жыл бұрын
+ShinyFearghus I did think of adding a thin metal circular strip the the mould to create the indents, but for a one-off it would have not been worth while, and it would have left me stuck with one size option. I could have span the shield on a cake decorators spinning platform and ground into the face with something like a dremel with thin light passes. But again I wasn't that interested the replica thing, I wanted something you could knock up over a long weekend for fun. I dont mind putting development time into my projects, but I like the end result to be easy and repeatable. Its just what makes me happy at the end of the day.

@dakotaharvey2138 жыл бұрын
I found the sleds are pretty difficult to get completely round. Any tips?
@BrainfooTV8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need some 3"x2" timber and make a small square frame that supports the sled underneath it, then tape it to the frame with gaffa tape. When you sit it on a flat surface it will all hold sqaure. Because the sled is red and soaks up heat, make sure you lay the fibreglass on a cloudy day.

Hi Brainfoo. Fantastic video and build! I'm currently attempting my own build, but with a few tweaks. I will mail you some pics and let you know how i get on if you like. Quick question though. The resin rollers you use to apply the resin, where on earth do you get them? Does it have to be specific resin rollers or would radiator rollers etc from B and Q do the job? Keep up the good work!

Cool, and effective against arrows and swords and knives, but I have to wonder how it'd hold up if made from kevlar? I know a sword would damage it, but original wooden shields took damage as well. I'm wondering how many layers of kevlar would it take to stop pistol rounds. Anyway, great build, it came out very nice and the paint job is spot on.

I have a couple of questions: 1-Why didn't you make both handles from leather? would that affect the hold? 2-Have you ever tried painting on the star? 3-Do you think that having an aluminium sheet as a base and coating it in 5 layers of fiberglass would be a better idea?
@BrainfooTV8 жыл бұрын
1 - Yes it forces your knuckles into the rear of the shield (hurts) and it's hard to control. 2 - Yes, I did that on my prototype, it just didn't look as good. 3 - Maybe, but the increase in strength would be minimal and you would have to form the aluminum, a bit of a pain.
