Hello. Your design is very good. Have you added a spring inside the part where the drill is installed to keep the mechanism up? I didn't see it in the video. but the mechanism remains above. If there was no spring, the drill would have to come down with its weight.
@AllFlavorWorkshop10 ай бұрын
Hello, there is no spring. I am using a plywood piece to support the drill press from below when idle :)
@kellypeterson27222 жыл бұрын
Awesome drill press. I know you replied to another person regarding the drill coming down with its own weight. It seems to be spring-loaded somehow and I don’t see that step in the video or in your comments on the video. Can you please explain? Really enjoy your work!!

Watch from 21:59 to 22:01. Looks to me like he temporarily placed a scrap piece of wood to hold it up.

Great modular design. It is good to have the sliding part built separately from the column. One question, are drawer slides accurate enough? Typically to slide smoothly, they need to stay a bit loose. That would introduce some play and could make less accurate. Right?
@AllFlavorWorkshop10 ай бұрын
Hello, honestly I have problems with this build. The drawer slides are holding pretty well. There is no space for any movement, they don't "wiggle". Next time I would probably use better slides (quality slides), but after having this drill stand for a few years now, I've had no issues.

Very meticulous build and attention to detail. There are much simpler builds but for the avid woodworker which you appear to be, excellent work. Enjoyed watching.

Very nice and clean project. The video doesn't show any spring. How the drill goes up?
@AllFlavorWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Hello, there is no spring in this build. I push and pull the drill manually. The drill is quite light, so there is not much of a problem but having a spring is definitely a good point. I am planning on making another improved build with a spring included. Thanks!

Great design, but what tensions the drill slide so it moves back up ?
@AllFlavorWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick, that is a manual process, there is no spring or anything like that. ;)
@pdemaers Жыл бұрын
@@AllFlavorWorkshop aha ... clear. would it be very hard to add a tensioning system to this design ? I first have to build a track saw guide. Once that is done I am having a go at this drill press.
@AllFlavorWorkshop Жыл бұрын
@@pdemaers Hi Patrick, I gave it a thought and I have few ideas. I think it would be possible. Just to make sure the tension is applied equally and the drill press wont get skewed when pushed down. I am also planning on creating a new version of this drill press with the tensioning system included. So hopefully soon ;)

What’s keeping the drill up? Are you using springs
@AllFlavorWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Hello Donald, this drill press does not have a spring. I am holding the drill press manually (the drill is quite light, so there's no problem). When not used I support the base with a plywood strip. Although for my next builds I plan to make one with a spring included.

Very good slow job, but one question; there's no spring holding up the dill, on the test run you only showed work and not the whole thing. How's that?
@AllFlavorWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Hi Henry, indeed, there is no spring. The drill press sits on the table. That could be a good improvement though. I dont find it necessary. atm. I am using a lightweight drill and there is really not much weight you need to hold.

Building stand is very nice and neet, but without using any spring, how can a drill machine withstand in the middle or top. It is impossible as due to weight of the machine, sliding door go down upto bottom and no chance of uplift. Can u pl answer how a sliding door withstand in the middle or top?
@AllFlavorWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chakrapani, true. This is a basic version of a drill stand. No springs, no rulers for measurements - though excellent precision . I most likely will be making an upgraded one with all the nice add-ons. If not used it always goes down. I am using a supporting piece of plywood to keep it in an up position to change the drill bits.

Hello Arshad, there is no spring movement. I didn't add a spring to this build though I was thinking about that. Most probably the next one - once I make the upgraded version. Right now it is just me holding the drill and moving up and down. To fix it I use a supporting piece of wood. 👍
