Jenny demonstrates how to make a beautiful double pinwheel quilt with split quarter square triangles made from 10 inch squares of precut fabric. For this project, Jenny chose Eden 10" Squares by Sally Kelly for Windham Fabrics.
Learn how to make scores of half square triangles quick-as-a-wink using the "easy 8" method. Those HSTs become easy 1/4 square triangles with just two seams, and they're trimmed to perfection with the Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmer B.

I keep telling myself "I do not need any more patterns and fabric, I got enough for several lifetimes." But then Jenny comes out with a new tutorial and all my resolutions fly right out the window. But I just have to have this one.

Jenny,I love you Love you, love you….you’ve been my mentor for as long as you’ve been making these videos, I had always been a hand quilter and stopped due to arthritis in my neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist and esp thumbs,(Dequerveins synovitis) and at first when I saw that people started machine quilting, I was like well that’s cheating not quilting. But after I saw a few of your shows I realized all I was doing was denying myself of one of my favorite things ever and so I started quilting again on a machine but had you not helped with your videos I would have never learned how, as I wasn’t a sewist but am that now too. Thank you so much for your inspiration. I am once again, quilting happily, better and enjoying it more than ever. Thank you Jenny I know our creator blesses you daily with love, laughter and stitching fun. And so many people love you I’ll bet your heart just bursts sometimes in tears of joy, when I watch you and see how happy and thankful you are I cry happy tears for you. Your most beloved fan…..EVER💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💕Linda Gillespie

@@LifeWithDeborahCarney I thought that each row would be good for QAYG but you have trumped my brain with your idea. Either ways can potentially add stability or size .

@@AnitaSouthall I like bigger blocks and I do the front and back at the same time. So this seems like it would be perfect for QAYG block sandwiches. I have a little facebook group with my QAYG stuff and I already put this pattern there so I remember to do it soon and what I wanted to use and how I wanted to change it.

Yes, it would make a cute baby or child quilt - I’m thinking about my smaller quilt guild who makes quilts (about 40”x50”) for children in crisis. A solid block alternating between the pinwheels could be faster for us and then we would have lots more quarter square triangle blocks for more quilts!

You could add these pinwheels around the perimeter of a rectangular fabric panel for a quick quilt, especially for kids. Just add small borders around the panel until you come to the correct measurement of a length of pinwheels. Thanks!

I adore designer Sally Kelly’s fabrics ever since I discovered her a couple of years ago. Because there’s so much going on with her fabrics, in this design I would use a solid with each print besides the solid background, so it wouldn’t look quite so ‘busy’ with all of those prints fighting with each other. It helps the eye appreciate the print designs better, in my opinion. But I *LOVE* this quilt block design, Jenny! It’s such a clever way of making a lot of HST/QST pinwheels quickly. I can’t wait to try it!

Boy making sure each rows points are going in the same direction could get confusing, I bet. There are so many possibilities with this block. If you were to add sashing, it would grow the quilt quickly and look completely different. I love the fabrics you chose. Thanks a bunch for the great tips and tricks!
