I love ideas for using my charm packs. When I first started my quilting journey about five years ago, I bought scads of charm packs, but quickly graduated into strips, fat quarters, and yardage. Needless to say (but I will anyway!), I have a lot of charm packs that need a project - and now they do! Thank you so much, Jenny! As always, you've shared another adorable project!

That’s what I’ve known them as too. I prefer to do the French seam just because there are no raw edges anywhere. It’s just 1 little extra step but does make a better finish.

Thank you SO much for bringing the green fabric requirements screen back! I also like the way you have laid out the tools and fabrics before you start sewing. It's like making an outline before you write a story. I love the quilt and I think I'm going to use extra charms to make it a rectangle. This quilt would look really cute, too, just using block A repeated across the rows to make the quilt look like it has propellers or windmills. Sweet!

I made my grandchildren some snowman pillowcases like that in early December, and they are still using them. It’s nice when someone appreciates your work, but I was just thinking that this granny needs to make some for spring and summer! I think it is worth taking the extra few minutes, though, to do a French seam to make it neat and today and to prevent fraying.

Check an older tutorial, she’s done one before but I don’t remember if she used a French seam. It is just putting the body of the case wrong sides together first and sewing a scant quarter inch seam then turning it out with right sides together like she showed and sewing a 3/8 inch seam. Turn it back out, press and you are finished. The first time I sewed one it really seemed weird to put the wrong sides together first! I’ve taught 4-H groups and the Moms or Grandmothers give me really weird looks too if they’ve never made one but then when they turn them out when it’s sewn the last time they really like the enclosed seam.
