I was very nervous putting my brand new beach cruiser on this rack. kzbin.infoUgkxG6JIgwJhur8_Rg8UeQ3EmePzi_wSncL8 But after reading many reviews I decided to get this one and take a chance. When arrived it was very simple to adjust and put together. I also added spike tape over the metal hooks before securing and tightening the straps, and no scratches. I also purchased the top bar made by the same company so that my cruiser sits straight on the rack without having to turn upside down. Extra bungee cords are used to secure the front wheel from flapping and even piece of mind knowing your bike is secure. Definitely recommend...

Super clever design. I think I would position it by placing it on the tire and then do a wheelie to the wall with it still on the tire. I might cut the 90 degree corners off too, but I think I will use this in the bike shed. Thanks for sharing this!

I made something similar last winter, the garage has exposed studs. Piece of scrap on both sides of stud, then a folded in half scrap piece of inner tube secured on one side with a srew + washer to form a loop, other side a screw sticking out to hook the loop onto. Basically free and works well. Put the bike tire in and pull the inner tube through the spokes to hook on the other side.

Hello John ...greetings from Peru 👋👋👋... It is very important to take care of our bikes, even if they cost US$10K each. After doing a research to see what were the best options, let me tell you that your solution to hang your bike up was the simplest one I saw.... At the beginning I was closed to buy a Steadyrack Bike and expend US$180 for a pair, but after watching your video I made the same rack as yours, but I added a couple of hinges in the backside which connects the rack on to the wall. In this way I can fold my bikes, but only in way way. Thanks for sharing your video. I have just one question. I want to buy the same drill bit that you are using to do your guiding holes. Where did you get it??? I will appreciate your tip. ... Have a nice and save ride ...

Is okay but some wheels have aluminium spokes that are fragile and can snap as a result of putting all the weight on it.
@chris4536 Жыл бұрын
The weight is bearing on the rim, not the spokes. The spokes on a bicycle rim are designed to support the weight of the rider plus the forces from riding. The tension of the spokes effectively suspend the hub from the upper part of the rim as the wheel rotates. This is why some wheel manufacturers are able to employ 'soft' spokes made out of essentially nylon rope (look up Berd wheels) which is said to offer a different ride quality to traditional rigid spokes.

I can just hear the cracking sound of the wood where it is screwed on when walking past and knocking my bike a bit. I know because i knock my bike alot, but my wall rack holds the tire loosely. I do like this design though, but it doesn't appear to be "knock into bike proof".

Great simple build Jon! Just curious, when the tire is flat, how do you get the bike out of the rack? If you pull the dowel out it will fall back I think? Will it become a two man job then? (especially with this bike being so heavy?)

Nice idea. I was just wondering. I was once told that storing a bike (with disc brakes) like that could cause problems with the brakes. Because of the way it's held vertically, you can get air bubbles in the oil of the hydraulic brakes causing them to fail. Please somebody correct me if I'm wrong because this solution would help me and my 5 bikes 😜
@GapCaseman Жыл бұрын
Many bicycle service shops hang the service bikes like this. Nothing to be concerned about. Get your 5 organized and save yourself some space.

As long as the levers are higher than the calipers you're fine.
@kvcp2563 Жыл бұрын
@@sssamcz ok interesting. Could you explain why that is?
@sssamcz Жыл бұрын
@@kvcp2563 because that is how the whole system is designed to operate. There are small breather holes at the master cylinder (lever) end, which, if stored 'upside down' will leak oil out and let air in the system.

Never hang your bike for long term storage . Or even a couple days. Not good for the fluids. Simply store it standing on its tires as if you were gonna ride it. That’s the way it is designed.
