I love this concept! It’s gorgeous with jelly roll strips, but it solves a problem for me, too. This tutorial has inspired me to make a backing from an ombré fabric by cutting three strips, flipping the middle one, adding some sashing and *boom* a gorgeous quilt back.

This would be a great way to make a couple of fast baby quilts using a pastels jelly roll. I started watching Jenny's tutorials several years ago when I wanted to make at least one quilt for each of my eleven grandchildren. I was very lucky to have been able to hand quilt with my grandmother when I was young. She made three quilts a year all by hand and I treasure three of her beautiful creations. I prefer to use the machine method though. I don't think I was gifted with her patience. Thank you Jenny for sharing all of your ideas with us all. The first thing I do every Friday is look for the new tutorial. I also love, love, love Block Magazine. Eleven quilts are done. With many more in the making. You just can't have too many quilts😉 right? Thanks again Jenny and your family too.

Jenny, you got me into quilting after I saw the Jelly Roll Race tutorial. After the Jelly Roll I went on to do a Zipper Quilt, a log cabin, a 9-patch, and a bear Paw quilt. I tell people it's like a sickness and the only cure is MORE FABRIC!!!

Yes, fabric is addictive. Good for you for using it. It is a joke that some of us have a JoAnn Fabric in our house. But I have gotten back to sewing and quilting to reduce stress. So I am hoping to shop from my stash.

I first saw a Missouri Star Quilt Company KZbin video when looking for a particular quilt pattern. It was one of those serendipitous moments when you do not find what you are looking for but do find something better. This has to be about 5 or 6 years ago and I still find something new watching these videos.

I first found Jenny's videos when I realized that the quilts I enjoyed receiving as a child would not be continued on to my own nieces, nephews, and children. My Grandmother who had made my quilts has gone blind to the point where she could not teach me. After a n interesting first few failed attempts I found MSQC's videos and Jenny taught me the skills I needed to keep this tradition alive in my family. When I recently made the Jack and Jill quilt for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary my Grandmother was floored and soo happy I was keeping the tradition alive. So thank you Jenny :)

it has been only 3 years that I started quilting. February of 2014 I had enrolled in beginners quilting classes, do to health reasons I was only able to attend 3 classes. Becoming home bound needed a place to get fabric, a little quilt shop told me about Missouri Star. well that's where it all began, found the website and it has been such fun. Beautiful fabric, very helpful customer service, everything you absolutely could long for from the quilting world. I live for Friday morning's the new tutorial for the week. I have been able to make anything I have wanted to, Jenny is such a good teacher and the Block Books are great thing to have also, just in case we lose internet. THANK YOU JENNY

Now the Stack and Flip has joined the list. Love the bright and happy colors. One Saturday morning I was riding my exercycle and watching a Fons and Porter quilting show on my local PBS television station. The guest for that show was Jenny Doan. I think the episode demonstrated ways to add variety to jelly roll quilts. Jenny was just so warm and friendly you couldn't help but feel like you knew her. I think I became a fan right then an there. Was so thrilled to see her in person last fall when my husband took me to Hamilton for the 8th birthday celebration of MSQC. We had such a fun time!

I started quilting about 5 years ago. Not knowing what I was doing I started researching it on line. That was when I came across Missouri Star Quilt Co. Jenny's voice was so great and sounded so much like my mom that had passed away. I have watched most all the videos. Sometimes falling asleep to the sound of her voice. With my husband over seas working it helped me through those lonely nights. I have made the zipper, wonky log cabin, numerous big bags and several others. My wish list to make is so long I will be busy for a long while. I look forward to the Friday videos. With my morning beverage and Jenny. I have visited the MSQC twice and had a blast. Love it all and all of you. My life is better for having been a part of your journey. Thank you

Hi Debi! I'd suggest keeping them side by side, and then moving on to the next set. So instead of the first color/print being 2.5" it would be 5" (minus the seam allowance). I hope this helps!

I had never quilted before, and really had only done basic sewing, but I was determined. I started reading quilting blogs, and somehow finished that quilt, and I was hooked. But I knew I had so much more to learn, and I really didn't know where to start. I searched for tutorials on KZbin, and at first just watched whatever looked useful. But Jenny and MSQC stood out. The tutorials are great and easy to follow, and I've picked up so many time saving tips and tons of useful information. For me, it was Jenny's personality that kept me coming back. She's always so positive and "fun", and I enjoyed learning from someone as warm and encouraging as she is. Thank you, Jenny, for bringing some sunlight into my life when I needed it!

Found out about Jenny and her videos by accident of facebook. I was a fairly new quilter, but over the last few years I have really improved my skill because of these tutorials.

The reason I quilt is Jenny !! I rediscovered this hobby-addiction after I retired three years ago. I wish I had fabric to make this quilt! ❤

I discovered Jenny while scrolling through you tube videos about binding. I must have watched her video about 10 times and felt comfortable enough to finish my binding. Then I looked at every tutorial of hers that was posted! I found the web site and the rest, as they say, is history! I love the Block Magazine and how personal it is, I love the daily deals and just how much fun it all is~Jenny is like a friend or your sister, cousin, a real person not hung up on "the perfect" but the fun and joy of what can be done with fabric. Love this lady!

Found the shop online. Then our guild invited her to speak and teach and she came! This of course was several years ago but people still say she is their favorite speaker!

I was told about Missouri Star and Jenny by my friend Janet. I just love them both! My first tutorial was the rag quilt and I made one for my grandson. Recently bought a baby lock machine, the sales person asked what interested me in a babylock. My reply: Jenny Doan!

A quilting friend told me about MSQC about the same time that I first saw Jenny's videos on Pinterest posts. After watching Jelly Roll Race, I thought, I can do that! I LOVE the tutorials!❤

Hi I was successful in quitting smoking two years ago. When I quit I had to keep my hands busy so I went back to patchwork. I was taught to patchwork by hand but soon realised I needed to get my machine up and going. When looking for some fun and easy patterns the first thing I found was Missouri star quilt company. I have never looked back. The tutorials are fun and easy to follow. My friends all love the quilts that I made them and its all thanks to you. Keep up the good work. One day I will make it to one of your stores

I've been subscribed for a while now. I found Jenny & MSQC quite accidently whilst watching other crafting vids, I'd never quilted or even considered that I'd be "good enough" to quilt until I watched Jenny in action. I joined in and made a tablerunner 😊 I've made much more quilted items since. THANK YOU!

I discovered MSQC when I found a Jenny tutorial for making half square triangles by stitching around the outside perimeter and then cutting. I was amazing - and hooked. I read the story of MSQC and have been in awe ever since.

I think I came across Missouri Star Quilt Company simply by doing a youtube search on quilting and quickly fell in love with Jenny's upbeat, encouraging personality! I am relatively new to quilting. I am currently working on the Half Square Triangle Four Seasons quilt. :)

I found Jenny (MSQC) almost a year back when I first started to learn about quilting. I went searching on You Tube and wow could not believe my luck that someone was going to make my journey to learn so easy. I am now a passionate quilter and cannot stop. I have purchased most of my supplies from MSQC especially precuts, love working with them...and of course my favorite rulers 5" and 2 1/2". Just finished the super easy hour glass quilt top...and yes was super easy...Jenny you are inspiring and I cannot wait for each Friday to see your tutorial..

Last November I took a Lasagne quilt class, locally, and wanted to learn more.....so I went to KZbin and guess who i found! I watched the Falling Charms tutorial and was SOOOOO excited to learn that I could do this thing called quilting. Jenny told me I didn't have to be perfect to do it! Best news ever! Many MSQC orders later and 9 quilts later, I am addicted and watch her videos....daily!!! Thank you for giving me the confidence to do something I love!!

I discovered MSQC one day about 3 months ago when I was searching on the internet for an easy pattern to use up some fat quarters that had been sitting in my sewing box for close to 20 years. My grandmother was a quilter and has recently passed away. I felt that maybe if I picked up quilting again, I could feel closer to her. I didn't even know where to start hence the search. I came upon Jenny's tutorials which made even complicated patterns seem easy. 2 quilt tops later (and several planned!!), I'm back into quilting which I had abandoned long ago as being "too hard." Most of my seems match up but then "close enough is better than not done at all." Thanks so much to Jenny and the MSQC for helping me to heal and enjoy the art of quilting.

I started quilting a little over a year ago and a friend to told me to check out KZbin and watch Jenny's videos. She did a great job making things that look hard actually easy with lots of tips and tricks. I really enjoyed watching the videos when you moved to your new space and had live events going on, that was always fun.

I am new at quilting. I happened to Google quilting for beginners and MSCQ came up on you tube. I just love Jenny, she makes everything seems so easy. Everything I make a quilt I just go to my MSQC Apple and make a quilt from there. I can understand everything that Jenny is doing and follow her very well. Thanks Jenny! Don't know what I would do if you weren't there at the beginning and are still here now.

I first heard of Jenny and MSQC tutorials and deal of the day, when I first started quilting and had no idea what I was doing! I've learned so much just watching her tutorials, even if I didn't make a quilt, just watching g was so informative! When I hear of new quilters, I always direct them to Jenny. I finally made it Hamilton Missouri last month and I fell in love with the town and MSQC! I'm planning on going to a retreat next year, I just need to figure out which one! Jenny has ignited a new passion for so many quilters, me included! Thank you, Jenny and all the staff that makes MSQC everything that it is!!!

Wow! That's beautiful! First saw Jenny on the MSQ FB page in 2014. Watched a video, followed her instructions and made my first quilt!! Been quilting since then, even bought a longarm quilter last year so I could quilt my own. Jenny is responsible for my love of quilting and for that stash of fabric waiting for me. LOL. I am going to make this one! Thanks Jenny!!
