This waste oil burner at the moment can produce over 800 degrees C and has no problem melting aluminium. Future upgrade will include refractory lining and some burner mods. Cheers Gerry

Thanks for listening and responding to our comments regarding the can foundry from one or your earlier videos. This is really good to see. Can't wait to see the upgrades in the future. Going to build one now.

Hi Dean. I need to add some refractory lining to get this to concentrate the heat. At the moment it melts aluminium but I would like to make it more efficient. Thanks for commenting Dean Much appreciated Cheers Gerry👍

Preheating the oil by running the copper tube around the burner or tank will increase the viscosity and flow. This makes it either more efficient or hotter, depending on the settings.

I did a project with a propane bottle and I found the smell inside the bottle to be sickening and I couldn't get it away with water or degreaser, so I did a bit of research and someone had luck with bleach, so I gave it a shot and it worked perfectly (just enough straight bleach to mix around) I was then able to finish without feeling nauxious! 😰
@GerrysDiy

Hi Volvo09. Thanks for the tip. That smell is added to the gas to make leaks detectable but it is persistent. Thanks for taking the time to comment Cheers Gerry👍

Hi Andrew. Easily gets to 800 degrees C but you would need 1200 degrees to melt iron. Hope this helps Cheers Gerry☝

I see you had to extend your copper oil drip feed pipe I did notice the flame was close to the oil in the drip feed pipe when it was above
@GerrysDiy
@GerrysDiy 5 жыл бұрын
Well spotted Darren. There were a couple of reason for this. I was using the drip feed system from my boiler stove project which is why everything was close in the first place. When I re-piped it I made an injector tee so I could pressurise the feed into the burner while putting negative pressure on the drip view port. You can see the airline behind me at the end of the video. I will cover it in another video. You deserve a beer🍺 for that.😜 Thanks for taking the time to comment Cheers Gerry

@@GerrysDiy...thanks for the reply gerry I stopped drinking 14 years ago I was drinking to much Guinness so I knocked it all on the head so you can have my beer lol. I'm going to give this gas bottle thing a try but I will try and make a log fire out of it for my workshop its only 10 foot by 9 foot so I will only need something small but I will look at making a oil burner like yours as well because the world is in a bad way at the moment and any country could suffer the grid being taken out. cheers gerry

Hi Darren. We'll have to give that beer away I don't drink either. These little propane tanks / bottles are very durable and you would get years out of one as a wood burning stove. I know you could just buy one but it's nice to build something yourself. Well done and thanks for commenting Cheers Gerry👍

I applaud his concern for safety, but as an American I couldn't help but to think that to ensure the tank was gas-free, I would have just taken it out back and used the valve for target practice.
