Furniture Flippers Unite! A paint recipe for the rest of us!! Thank you guys for 20k!! 🎉 I have a gift just for you to be able to make your very own one step paint using materials from Home Depot!!! Enjoy ❤️ I appreciate you all so much and I’m grateful for your support!!
****This recipe does not work for black paint
**^ You MUST use WATER 💧 based products
Lots of questions asking “what if my paint is paint and primer in one?” Unfortunately the primer In wall paint doesnt add ANY adhesive qualities and Is more of a marketing gimmick by paint companies. If you want this to work you have to follow my recipe with all three Ingredients. Trust me on this, I experimented A LOT 😅 so you dont have to!
Lots of questions about how much paint I actually use In the video. I used about 1 & 1/2 cup. I have experimented with 1 and up to 2 parts paint with this recipe and have gotten great results with any of those amounts.
I can’t put the recipe in here because it’s too easy haha and you won’t watch the video 😅 sorry!
All ingredients are water based products, for this recipe to work your products need to all be water based 😅 an oil based product won’ mix in with a water based

I'm a new subscriber after seeing this posting! Question...does this recipe work like chalk paint? Can you distress and use colored waxes for effects? Is this something that you've tried? Either way, I am going to definitely be trying out this recipe. Thank you so much 👍

Traditionally, chalkboard chalk was made from calcium carbonate. Today, most is made up mostly of gypsum, so it probably wouldn't work the same. Great info and we are going to try this!

I started painting when I was 14 for a construction company. Back in the old days..lol. When we painted cabinets this is the recipe that the old painter gave me and I have used it for many years. He used athletic field marking chalk he got at the sports store or ace. Long before Annie was a thing. That stuff was solid as a rock. I use this on all my furniture I flip and sell and paint for a living, so yes, I can totally verify this is a tried and true method. I am so glad you shared this. It saves tons of money and I've never been happier with a finish. I've tried some of the name brands and they are good, but im thrifty and I can make gallons compared to small containers price wise. I've used this with all sheens of paint and brands, because I'm an oops user too! Thanks for sharing. You rock!!

Great video with amazing information, thank you! If you buy your paint from Home Depot and possibly Lowes, ask for a duplicate label of your paint (they can scan the little round custom paint label as long as the bar code is fully visible). Then you can put the duplicate label on the bottom of your "1 step paint" jar in case you need more. I always suggest that my customers put these on the back of switch plates, sides of cabinet drawers, etc for future reference.

As a kid, about 50 years ago, lived in a new development where there was continual building of houses going on. We would take the scrap sheet rock out of the trash piles, peel off the paper and use it for ALL the art supplies - chunks for sidewalk chalk, or crushed and mixed it with lots of water for a thick white paint or just a bit of water for “clay” . Lots of good memories! And hopefully nothing toxic in it.

I love that you are sharing this idea. I've been tempted to try. I do mix my own colors from behr sample paints. I mostly sew bit newish to other crafting. Ice tries painting ball jars in separate steps but our weird climate ranges one day too dry to next too humid. I can't get it to stick even prepping with a top coat or cleaning with alcohol. I also don't want to spend time waiting for paint to dry to go to next step. I have made my own chalk paint. I looked up what chalk was first. So chalk is mainly two ingredients in nature. Calcium and something else. Except Plaster of Paris has 3 and only found outside of Paris. It hardens more and why was used for casts. But any calcium product is supposed to work. I used powder plaster patch. But the article I read said to find the one with the fewest additives. So I did. It worked pretty good.

I've never measured it when I mix it to use. I'll add baking soda, sea salt, ex. What ever texture I need at the time. I have to try this. Pretty cool. Also I have actually mixed some chalk paint and top coat to fix a bleed through when I was adding blending on top of that color but didn't have much top coat at the time I was working on that piece. A plastic parmesan cover fits great on a Mason jar too.

Fantastic tip on the mayonnaise lids, and here I’ve been throwing them out, you can also watch the jar providing its a glass jar and use it for making the paint mixture

Another common lid that fits regular canning jars are plastic lids from inexpensive plastic peanut butter jars.

Can anyone testify of the long term durability of this mixture? Or it would be rwally awesome Shannon if you could do a video with previous projects that you used this on and how they have held up ❤ id love to try this!!

I have learned so much from you. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and experience with us. I try the wood finish look on laminate table and people cannot believe is not wood. Is one of my favorite flips.

Hi, just found your channel and really enjoyed the paint recipe. Never heard of this before. Have nothing to paint at the moment but will use your recipe when I do. I painted a tallboy a couple of years ago and had to do several coats, which looks good but scratches very easily.

I made this for a little pantry my dad gave me. It came out beautiful. I just picked up some oops paint from Home Depot, and made the recipe. Perfect!

Thank you for this information. I too look everytime I go to home depot for oops paint. And I definitely recommend stirring the calcium carbonate with water before adding to the paint. I have chunks in my one paint but will be going to dollarama to get those strainers to filter them out. Love this

❤️ awesome! Yes, my recipe i do is 1/4 cup calcium carbonate mixed in 1/8 cup water, and if needed a splash more of water. Sorry I probably wasn’t super clear on that in the video 🙃

I actually did this ( before seeing your video) because I was lazy didn’t want to do 2 steps so o mixed my chalk paint with primer for a sure grip on a vintage sewing machine cabinet! Then covered with matte polycrylic! ;) ty. I bought a 50 lb bag of chalk powder thinking I was going to do this Fultime flipping furniture but locals are too poor to pay. Now I have a ton of that powder!

I have plaster of Paris on hand. If I use that will it turn the paint into chalk paint where I can paint without sanding?
