Hi Deidre, I actually discovered the Black Sheep technique several months ago as an alternative to chalk paint with wax or topcoat. I have a large cabinet and plan to do this "one step" method. I'm glad you tried it!

I am so glad you are sharing this. I watched this a while ago. I tell everyone about that video, I can't remember if I told you, but I think it is a cheaper alternative, if you can get the "Oops" paint at the hardware stores. That table is adorable. I love that color. My daughter used to love that mustard color, and I used to hate it, until you started using it.

Thank you for the paint recipe. I will definitely give this a try. But I do have to say that I preferred the table as it was. For me, it was too unique to paint, especially the top. I wonder if something else could have been done with the top to upscale it....maybe putting in slivers of a dowel for an inlaid look or flat glass disks for something more artsy? Maybe on the next on you find 😉

Hi thanks for the great video’ when you say “no prep” does that mean you do not have to sand?? I bought some dining chairs from a local furniture store. They description says they are oak but they are “painted” black. I have sanded one chair a bit but it’s messy and a big job.I’m going to paint them a creamy white. Can I skip sanding them with this recipe?

I just went back and re-watched your video, and I wanted to tell you, and anyone else, who reads this.... She made a mistake in her video, when she said that she used one part paint...you can see when she pours it, into her jar, that it is actually two parts paint, and there were several comments, below that video of people, who said they were using that method, for years, and it is actually 2 parts paint. I wondered why your paint looked so thin with the first coat, but I re-watched your video, and what you said about all equal parts in the recipe, and I think that is why it looked thinner. The actual recipe is: 2 parts paint - 1 part primer - unless you use paint with primer already in it...or you can still use the primer, if you want a lighter color, like you said. 1 part polyurethane/polyacrylic 1/4 cup of calcium carbonate or Plaster of Paris. Now, her specific recipe, in that video, is as follows: 2 cups paint 1 cup primer 1 cup polyurethane 1/4 cup calcium carbonate So, if you're making less, you'd have to adjust the calcium carbonate/plaster of paris accordingly.
@OurUpcycledLife

Yes I think it has been around for years and it is quite clever! Yes adding more paint would def work. I probably could prevent having to do 3 coats but with the extra poly it makes it super hard and durable. I didn't like it with the primer. Changed the colour too much
