HINT from this old grandma: take the cream cheese out of the foil and let it soften in your big bowl when the cc is COLD and firm - just out of the frig - it won’t stick so bad to the wrapper. This works well when you need softened butter for a recipe, also. 😊 I LOVE both of these recipes and I love your no-nonsense style! Thanks!

I've been saving bacon grease for 60 years. Plus I save my cooking oil. Here's my tip; I use cone coffee filters in a used, clean and dry 24 oz cottage cheese container. It's the perfect size and shape to hold the filter without tipping over. My grandma taught me that along with many other valuable lessons for life. Peace be with you all. 🕊️🙏🏿🙏🙏🏽🕊️

Um, 60 year old bacon grease is probably not a good idea to use anymore...just saying...
@mrs.b6719 Жыл бұрын
@aantunez5391 omg, you're so funny 😁. Her bacon grease isn't 60 years old 🙄 🤣 I'm sure what she meant was that she's been doing the process for 60 years now. We southerners use it as fast as we gather it. Putting it in cornbread, beans, greens and peas, etc. I've been using the same process for close to 40+ years. Every time I cook bacon I pour it up and put it in the fridge. It's usually all used up by the end of a month or so for seasoning 😅 you don't actually get a whole lot from a pound of bacon. Maybe a quarter of a cup if you're lucky. And NO, southerners don't fry bacon every single day either. 😂😊

My grandparents always saved bacon grease and taught me how useful it is in all sorts of recipes. This one looks fantastic AB, thank you! I will have to try this soon, though I think I might oil up my small muffin tins with the leftover bacon grease for the jalapeno bites, it could give the cheese panko shells even more magic.

I've kept a stash for almost 40 years & my mom still keeps hers! We use it in many things. Sometimes just a touch for flavor in things if you don't have bacon on hand will.do.the trick. And ya'll haven't lived until you use it for your pancakes. Best crispy edges ever!!😋🥓🥞🥓🤤🤗 Thank you again!❤️

I made these this weekend and they were delicious. One think I can say though is that a good non-stick muffin tin is a must. I have an aged muffin tin and even though I sprayed it, I was still struggling to remove the bites. Conversely, I did a second batch in a fresh non-stick tin and they popped out no problem.
