10:11 80% FLEX packages are inaccurately labeled (envelop, Box, M, L etc). Best option is to use a SHARPIE and write down all the Stop No. Have 1-20 in the front. Takes around 10-15mins but can save you at every stop

Good advice! Our station puts yellow route labels on the packages, but we still have the issue of the app stating the package type is something it isn't
@4193315 күн бұрын
How do you know which boxes etc are 1st? Amazon makes the route. Its not which ones you scan first
@thebrickhiker15 күн бұрын
@@41933 I end up having to change my route 75% of the time, but because the software does not show the route until one has scanned all the boxes, you never know what the final route is. BUT if you always use the Amazon provided route, then that will match with the yellow sorting labels on each box. The station affixes these to each package when they get them and divvy them up for drivers into routes. So the lowest number in the group of boxes you have is the first stop, etc. Makes it easy to put the correct boxes in the car in an order that makes sense. Only issue is when one has to change the route due to Amazon not understanding mountains, or ignoring the deadline that many packages have for delivery. Often the last package in the route will have a due time of an hour from the start of the route, so one has to change the route to get the package there in time or one is punished by the app for a late delivery.

Used to deliver food during college. After insurance, gas, increased wear on your vehicle, increased maintenance costs. Plus, a few intangibles like dealing with traffic. It was not worth it. Good for quick beer money though. I don’t think I would ever do it again. I see you leave your car running while on delivery which I suppose is better on your starter. But depending on the area you live in, this might not be a smart decision. Have seen many people’s cars get jacked (break window, and drive off!). Massive headache to deal with aftermath.

$64 for 3-3.5 hours of work? Does that include the time it takes to drive to the Amazon location, pick up packages and load them up? What about gas? Food, drink? Is that included in the $64? Have you thought about the wear and tear on your car? Tires, brakes, etc. are subject to a lot of stress and wear. What about insurance? If you have an accident, your private car will be broken, which is exactly what you need. All that and the risk of breaking your private car for $64, hell no!

thanks Chris. My thing is you delivered 30 plus packages? Meaning you drove to 30 plus locations. How many miles and how much gas did you spend? You get 33 mpg? Thats 33 miles/$3.50 gal gas.. agreed? If you put on a 66 mile delivery journey.. Thats $7 in gas then I would say just usage of the care for that day would be 3 bucks. So lets say $10 for a day using your car up to 66 miles. You made $64 bucks from Amazon. Minus the $10 for using your own car equals $54. Divide that by the 3.5 hours of work and you get $15.42/hr? Okay, thats just above min wage? If you didnt drive of 66 miles?? IMO... I have to say I am not sure

All these gig economy jobs are scams. It costs a minimum of $1/mile to drive a vehicle when you consider ALL expenses including gas, maintenance, insurance, depreciation, car payment, etc. If you drove around for 3 hours and maintained an average speed of 30mph, you drove 90 miles, costing you $90 and you only made $60 odd dollars. You're literally paying to work for Amazon, DoorDash, Uber, etc. Minimum wage for these jobs should be $1/mile plus $15/hour and even then it would suck. These companies are counting on people not doing the math and not realizing that they're literally paying to work for them. When someone wises up to the scam (or more likely, their car dies and they can't afford to buy another one), there's always another clueless person right behind them to replace them.
