You don't need the additional plate for backing. You can flip text, assign another filament, and slide it under the main printing face (i.e. the lid). This is useful if you're exporting from another program to scale, from example from OpenSCAD. Keep the text height to 0.2mm (the first layer height), to reduce filament waste.

Hi, I am following your video step by step to add words onto a Bambu Swatch. When I select the cube that already has the text embedded, and select cut with same boxes checked as you, it cuts it into two parts named Cube A and Cube B, but it looses the subdivisions (cube and text_shape). I can still see the outline of the text on both pieces, but it becomes the same color as the cube. When I slice those freshly split parts, the letters disappear from the bottom piece (the piece we are supposed to use). Any advice? Great video by the way!

Yeah doesn't work for me either, same as you describe. Every step works except the cutting. When you cut it keeps the text object, but removes the color attribute and prevents you from ever putting it back (text object becomes un-editable after cutting). His version looks different than mine though, maybe I have a newer software.
@ashleys3dprintshop11 ай бұрын
@@CGreciful You shouldn't need to cut text anymore as there are several ways to flatten text now. You can use the modifier way You can split them into objects and assemble them directly. Great video Ashley. How would one make sure the text was only on the first three layers? Thanks!
@ashleys3dprintshop8 ай бұрын
Good question! Thank you. Normally I make the text 3 layers by making at it least .6mm in the height. So you can make the adjustment with the scale tool ,tune off uniform scale, in the z axis. So assuming a .2mm layer height .2 is one layer .4 is two layers .6 is 3 layers There can be some overlap in layers in between the numbers like .51-.69 could be 3 layers too. It's easier to think of it as a multiple of your layer height.

I’m in the process of building a tool organizer from a designer that provides stl files of all the parts. Some of the components have recessed size text embedded into the objects. I’ve been trying to print these parts using 2 filament colors so the size text stands out and is more visible. I’ve been using the painting tool to paint the bottom of the recessed letter surface which hasn’t worked very well on some of the samples I’ve been printing. The font is too small and the recess is too deep. Any suggestions on how I can modify the part design to provide flush printed text? Sounds like I’d need to create parts to overlay the new size letter over the old part and then merge them together. Is that a good approach?

This no longer works, as I think Bambu updated the cut operation that does not allow this to happen. Now when I cut, it does not keep the independant colors of the text and sacrificial bounding box, they change to white. I tried painting them seperate colors, then assembling them with my object, but when slicing, they show as a solid color :(
@cryptie Жыл бұрын
update: 45 seconds after I posted, I had an idea and fixed it :p instead of keeping the BOTTON portion of the text, I kept the TOP portion. I flipped it, so it was reverse, now the object is ONLY text (without the sacrificial bounding box) I moved that, assembled it, and it works fine.
