I'm watching this nine months down the road but better late than never, eh? 🙂 I'm a hobbyist / amateur "landscape" photographer. I put that in quotes because I think it highlights a potential concern and factor to be considered by anyone considering professional landscape photography. I live in an *extremely* dull and non-scenic part of the US (...world) from a landscape point of view -- Louisiana. It's literally hundreds of miles at best to the nearest quality landscapes. It's astronomically frustrating to try and find *anything* to shoot in my area. So I think geographic location is a major factor with logistical and financial impacts. I would guess that living in a more "landscape dense" place would ease that factor to a degree, but also raise the level of competition. So I guess finding a balance and / or a more unique way of photographing your local / regional landscape could be vital.
