I assemble mine today, the door isn't quite as square as the frame. I'm sure l have something off. It's not much but repairable. What a great project!! Thanks! My lumber at Lowes came to $63. We're still getting hammered with lumber prices. I love your videos too!!

Nice. Planning on one of these for my bar area in my den, much better than having an eye-sore trash can. For the front door, I suggest making a single panel rather than attaching the two boards separately. A few pocket hole screws and wood glue would do the trick. That way there'd be no possibility of a gap between the boards. Just a suggestion.

We use dimensional lumber to keep things as simple as possible which is the goal of the channel, hence the two boards.

​@@TheRehabLifeThat's a very good goal, an even more accessible alternative might be the paint grade boards at Lowe's (and probably the other big box stores). They are available in 20 or 24 inch widths and would remove a step.

This was a great project and I think, like all of your projects, you hit the right balance of function and execution. One Question, I was interested to know why you did not use a pre stain? Did the wood accept the stain without blotting? At any rate, thanks for the project.

The measurements get pretty tricky. Any change in height, width, and depth could change a significant part of the build unfortunately
