I’d recrystalize your alum with clean distilled water with a touch of sulfuric acid for pH control. The crystal shapes seem rough indicating impurities in your solid product

That's a possibility, but first I am doing aluminium hydroxide. My first attempt has been a failure but I think I have solved the problem. I may post two videos on it, the one where I fail and hopefully the one where I succeed.

@@perrygershin3946 Well, for that the best thing I know so far is to add aqueous ammonia to an aluminium salt solution to precipitate aluminum hydroxide as one of the products. I wouldn´t want to use sodium/potassium hydroxide because any excess of it will react and redissolve the aluminium hydroxide to form sodium/potassium aluminate.

I need to revisit this one, I did purchase some aluminum hydroxide just to compare with what I made, I'm not sure if I got the desired result. I can't remember right now exactly what process I tried, I'll have to take a look at my notes on this. It's possible that I made the mistake that you mention.
