There seems to be some confusion about ProRes in the comments (people saying that ProRes is useless for KZbin anyway) so let's clear this up. ProRes IS NOT AS A DELIVERY FORMAT. You don't use ProRes so that you can present your footage in ProRes. Even ultra high quality BluRay discs are heavily comoressed. The reason you actually use a format like ProRes is for your post workflow. It's easy on the processor due to limited compression and allows for an editor really push the color grade wherever they want it to go without breaking the image up. 10bit footage is a HUGE benefit if you are doing anything more than minor tweaks. It's damn near necessary if you are using proper LOG formats. ProRes is just a convenient, low compression, fairly standardized wrapper for that 10bit footage. You can get some similar image quality out of HEVC, but it's intense on your editing workflow. To summarize. ProRes is not for delivery. It is for editing. So YES it does have strong use for KZbin content depending on your workflow. *Steps off soap box*

@@messyfilms6325 There were definitely more, it was not pointless because thread comments get much less traction for the people who need to hear it, and I have heard this same comment on repeat across forums, Reddit, KZbin, and anywhere ProRes is a part of the conversation since the new iPhone dropped. I know this is an old video at this point, but not for someone stumbling upon it later like I just did, so mu question would still stand... Have you ever done a video addressing the scenarios in which you build your instructions? As a journalist of a different kinda, I understand how a creator like yourself is allows to shoot/fly in locations like this, but its it something attainable by the public at large? Have you ever addressed that, in a video I have missed? Camera work, concepts, and flights are AWESOME, but what about legitimacy? Can a "normal" flier, or recreation pilot, fly in these places? Or should they only take instruction, not suggestion? :) THANK man!

@jeffellis65442 жыл бұрын
Sharpest f-stop is f4.0-4.5 on this lens. Doesn’t mean you can’t use it at other aperture‘s but if you’re going for maximum sharpness without diffraction that’s where you want to keep it. more important for still photos I think than for video because video is constantly moving and a little bit of softness I think would be less noticeable. Depends on your subject matter too. Native iso on M3 is 400 or 800 for Log

Great tutorial, Jeven. Thank you for that. I also do like Log, for the reasons you mentioned. To my knowledge the M3 in Log is locked in either ISO 400 or ISO 800. Is it true and do you require higher ND filters to compensate for the increased brightness? Thank you again, for your effort.

Jeven, well presented. Matching video clips with your narration makes it clear to anyone who is interested or already is into drones. As for the CINE version. No one needs the CINE version unless the footage they capture is intended to be included in a theatrical production. Even sending ProRes content created from the CINE version will get compressed (viewing on KZbin too), so it's a worthless investment. Viewing clip comparisons from the Mavic 3 and the Air 2S, seems the Air 2S produces about the same color and resolution. Only downside of the Air 2S is not having enough mid range color, just barely.
@Skapo3 жыл бұрын
The Mavic 3 is overpriced as hell. Definitely. Just wanna clarify something though because this gets misunderstood a LOT. Especially in the wake of the iPhone 13 Pro doing ProRes. PRORES IS NOT A DELIVERY FORMAT! (Yell it from the damn rooftops!) People keep saying there is no benefit for KZbin, but the whole point is for better flexibility in post. It's an easy format to process and allows for a lot of latitude when color grading or otherwise pushing the image. The reason ProRes has benefit is because of post workflow not viewing presentation. So yes. ProRes in this case would absolutely have significant benefits. They are just charging unfair prices for the feature.
@christangey3 жыл бұрын
@@Skapo HLG also allows for a lot of latitude and is a tiny file compared to Prores. Prores is better for your processor yes, but the HUGE cost is massive files, that does nothing for either my workflow or storage issues.
@Skapo3 жыл бұрын
@@christangey HLG = Hybrid Log Gama. It's a picture profile. Doesn't have anything to do with file format whatsoever. You are probably thinking of HEVC/h.265 (High Efficiency Video Coding) and you have actually made my point. Different file formats for different needs. You don't use ProRes if file size is a big issue for you. You use ProRes when time & quality is the big issue for you. You can still push ProRes further than HEVC in post, but most importantly if you are a professional editor you save a lot of time in the editing process by not having to wait for your system to unpack the footage for you to smoothly play back. Especially when color corrections and visual effects are in play and every bit of extra processing power becomes relevant. I stand by what I said. ProRes is not a delivery format. It's a video encoding that makes editing more smooth because of it's minimal compression. If your priority is time & quality then ProRes is choice. If your priority is file size the HEVC or similar is useful. But HLG can be used in any video encoding. It does not have anything to do with the video encoding.
@christangey3 жыл бұрын
@@Skapo You really have a big mouth for somebody who has no idea what they are talking about.
@Skapo3 жыл бұрын
@@christangey Google is your friend man. HLG is a picture profile that can be used in any video codec. It's used to most closely mimic HDR on SDR formats. Do what you will with that info. Ignore me if you want. Doesn't change what it is.
